hurt locker any good?

Ive got the 720p of this aint bothered to watch it, as heard a lot of the servicemen in the war hated this movie with passion due to errors and bs basically.. is it that bad ~?

Watched this on BluRay last night

It wasn't a bad film but certainly couldn't see why all the fuss

Just watched it for the first time, nice film but not up there with the likes of The Thin Red Line or Black Hawk Down. The one thing that really got me...

The sniper scene is terrible. It just makes no sense. (Spoiler ahead)

Enemy sniper is deadly accurate, kills first 3 or so with first shots. Then proceeds to miss the main characters even though they are in the same spot that the previous guy just got killed in. He continues to miss them while they have a drink. But of course we have a crazy dude as the hero, bullets can't hit him can they? Where is the enemy hiding? In the only building you can see for miles. He doesn't move, waits for them to reload their rifle, have a drink, clean their bullets, miss a bunch of times, until they finally hit him. Meanwhile, the noob guy (noob guy, serious guy and crazy guy,, no stereotypes there). Cuts loose on semi automatic, and is deadly accurate, even though he barely aimed. Kills a guy in the middle of a bunch of animals without hitting any of the animals.

You could drive a truck through the holes in the logic of most of the scenes in it.

100%. Why did the enemy sniper not shoot the black guy in the 10 minutes he was waiting for bullets? One the other hand the biggest issue I had with that scene was the fact they appeared to bring a rocket launcher from the contractors vehicle... 300m, 4 men in a building... I'm under the assumption that the rocket launcher would be used first...

Did it deserve Oscars? Nope. But it would be wrong to call this an average film.

It's defiantly better than average. and I do think it's worth a watch.

I wish I had watched this before I had seen Generation Kill as it was a bit of a let down after seeing Generation Kill previously.

It had its moments, it was quite tense at times, but it definately didn't deserve the Oscars it recieved, it is distinctly average but it just touched a nerve with the public as it was a very "current" film.

SPOILER: As mentioned previously, the sniper scene was ridiculous, the film lost me after that as I realised what standard the film was up to.

Personally while I accept avatar story isn't the most original or anything at least in storyline, I think it was a very enjoyable movie. Much better than Hurt locker.

Have to say though, a lot of the classic war movies have lots of flaws but because I grew with them, I can over look them, as they tons of character. Which Hurt locker doesn't. IMO.

This film is about a mans addictions to fear and adrenaline rush that he can only find doing what he does in Iraq - bomb disposal. Everything else in his life takes second place to the "rush" he gets and needs while his life is on the line.

Including friends collegues and even family. Granted it's full of what seem like inaccurate inconsistances and "American" heroes rubbish but they are all just the clothes on the man inside. Thats where the film stands out it's all about him and whats going on inside his mind and body..

Good deep portayal of what war can do to a human being ..

I fail to see how it can be full of rubbish (which it is) and at the same time deep portrayal of anything. Galaxy Quest has deeper characters. If you can look beyond all that and get something out of it then great. I just couldn't.

I just wish film producers would at least try to get it right for once.

truly realistic depictions though for the most part would be pretty boring and all the drama would have to come from some even more unrealistic interpersonal drama.

Make sure your sitting comfortably, adopt the lotus position, open your mind and go ummmmmmmmmmm ummmmmmmmm ummmmm For at least 2 hours, works every time :)

On a serious note, thats why films are great they are all different and so are we so there's a film for every one ? :)

There's also the question of the great big machinegun on top of their humvee.

Why bother with the sniper battle at all, when they could have turned that little building into swiss cheese in about 2 seconds.

:) because as any Battlefield player knows NEVER ever get on a mounted gun when there is a sniper in the vicinity unless you've written your will and changed your under wear that morning .. ;)
