Good luck with that. I'd be interested to see how you get on. My old CL500 which I got cheap was missing its service history and I figured it'd be like BMW - phone up and get a replacement service book with everything ever done at the main dealers. Not so with MB in my case and they were naff all help.

Mark what's the Nav like in your SL? The older system seem to be CD based for which you need about a billion CD's in the glovebox should you decide to drive to other countrys?

His is a 7G with the DVD based navigation system

Iv not used it to be honest, also this car came with nothing bar the V5 and MOT, there was a battered looking Teleatlas disc in the glove box but i got a feeling it was for another car.

Does anyone know if you can swap wheels between the W220/W215 cars (S-Class and CL-Class) with that on the R230 (SL)?

I have some really nice AMG 19s on the S-Class which would look great on the SL. Weighing up my options as buying another set of AMG 19s will cost a fair chunk.

You got any idea which year they changed over to DVD based?

I really like the nav system in the 2006 onwards SL's (widescreen version) but i've read your can't retrofit to older cars due to wiring and sensor compatability issues.

Switchover was 2004 to the widescreen version along with the 7 speed box rather than the 5. That along with heavily revised electronics etc

The two systems are not cross compatible, totally different electronics.

But yeah heck of a car for the cash, nothing else sub 40-50k would get my attention over one.
