Microwave problems

My google fu skills are lacking today. I've tried but to no avail. Microwave is making a crackling sound, and doesn't actually heat up my food.

So basically it's broken and making weird noises. I don't know why I'm making this thread, I'll inevtiably have to get a new one, but I'm posting just in case someone happens to know a fix.

Also I'm very hungry

I'm just going on the little that I know about microwaves, but you should get rid ASAP. If its leaking it can be very dangerous, don't use it again, and buy a new one, they are fairly cheap so not really worth fixing.

Or just toss it off something very high and RUN

I had something similar. Fixed it by putting a jar of mustard in at 800W (or as high as the microwave allows) for 20 minutes.

Should clear up any problems

Yep, new microwave for me then.

^I would do the mustard thing, but I don't wanna risk it. I already used up most of my mustard by spreading it on my cpu. Apparently it helps you achieve an extra 300mhz overclock?

If its not heating up food at all its probably cheaper to buy new than fix and replace

Yea cos DIY on magnetrons isnt dangerous at all

The noise its making isnt like a "whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >> (5 mins later) >> ding!" is it? I think that's normal.

Whatever you're trying to heat up will do just as well on the hob. Don't play with borked microwaves, they can be a little nasty if they wanted to be. I had one bite my finger.

I've been the market for some taste buds for a while now actually. Where do you recommend?

I've tried Tesco but they've stopped stocking them for some reason.

Didn't they prove on one of those silly science shows that your microwave is no threat to you at all? IIRC You would need a ridiculously powerful (more than 10x the power of the regular home mic) magnetron to see any effect at all.

I have worked in a Microwave factory at the quality assurance department for over 20 years and have seen many Microwaves in my time. If you send me your name, address, and pictures of the microwave I will be able to sort out some repair info for you.

I am actually Strife's boss and he shouldn't be giving out advice on a public forum. Just send me your bank details, pin numbers etc and I will sort this out at BetFair's end.
