Dave Grohl is up there for me. Not seen Mercury live and wasnt around in the heyday although cant argue with the rep he has.

I've never watched his Live Aid performances until now (I know... sorry!) and it's amazing. His voice is incredible for live work, and he really works the crowd brilliantly. Really looks like he was born for the job.

Of that list I'd go for Freddie Mercury. Out of all those he had the most presence, whatever that means. From my own extended list, I have no idea. Johnny Rotten (pre butter add) maybe?

Everyones musical tastes aside "Oh, the frontman from my favourite band is clearly the best, etc" - Freddy Mercury handed out the musical pwn on a serious scale.

He was the first person I thought of when I saw the thread title, thinking hard about someone who can beat him...nothing 5-10 minutes later. Winner.
