Mk6 traction control light

the traction control light doesn't come on ?

You'll have to be more specific, are you saying that theres a light for it in the instrument binnacle that should come on when you start the car ??

or are you referring to a light on the T/C switch itself ?

And a Mk6 what incidentally ?

If its similar to the TC system the Puma had, it only works up to about 15mph in first gear, as it was more designed as a launch aid in slippery conditions, not saying that's the case, but it might explain it.

Disabling it give you a nice power boost in 1st gear.

If its got TC it will have the ESP off button next to the heated window buttons or instead of the coin holder depending whether its a facelift or not. Im pretty sure that was part of a safety pack that was a £600 option, sure you have it? My mk6 ST dosent even have TC

A lot of dashboards have lights that simply aren't connected but work fine in diagnostics mode - for example mine has airrbag and rear door open lights and has neither airbags or rear doors.

The reason they are still fitted is usually because it's cheaper to fit them to everything (same reason you sometimes see vans with blanked off rear windows but still with wipers or lighting for boot lights with no light fitted).
