Hey!

In the middle of my A levels at the moment and been thinking on what to do after...

I'm definitely set on Uni but I would really enjoy taking a year or two out before going to do some volunteering partly to get a break from studying and to do something different

So has anyone done this before? any suggestions for the best place to volunteer? Abroad or in the UK is fine btw!

The longer you leave it the harder it is to get back into studying. Also getting an actual job to gain experiences is hard enough as it is with qualifications never mind without.

Fair enough, but even though im set on Uni at the moment i may change my mind futher along... may find that I enjoy the work and stick with it, thats why id love to do some volunteering

Thanks, meant to say volunteering not wrk exp :o Been looking at placements in the Met...

Planning on doing a history and politics degree, already applied for a placement in the Assembly so looking forward to that.

Is this the best thing to do then? thought it would make my CV look better giving me a good chance when applying for a uni...

To give you something to think about, this means you'll finish uni 2 years later and lose out of 2 years of graduate salary. Personally as a student I don't think doing some volunteering is worth that much to me, and although yes it might improve a CV and give you "life experience" its not required.

I'm guessing you are doing AS level at the moment, if so then surely you should be able to do some volunteering in the summer, do 2 or 3 places.

Start writing letter and phoning up places.
