First car to roll off the line at Longbridge in 6 years!

Put it this way, if I had to spend 15k on a brand new car, it wouldn't be one of these things! Plenty of decent base models from other manufacturers at this price point. Only die hard rover/mg spods will bite.
 
Even in sporty livery it's looking very bland. REALLY don't like the arse on it's side profile. With an arse looking like that you need big wheels to carry it off, and they just don't look big enough to make it work.

Mind you.. bright coloured, great looking cars (IMO) that MG produced until they collapsed didn't save them...


ALSO... Maestro.. wouldn't touch one.... MG Maestro Turbo.. would love to have one! So perhaps it's something that some bodywork/kit can help with?

Thats some power right there, let me tell you :)

In that review they say it managed to seam slower than that too, that in itself is an achievement :)

The thing I never got with the end of life MG's was, why would you want to buy a old Honda with rover bodywork and an MG badge when you could just buy a new Honda.

It took VW quite a while to turn Skoda round, and they never had the issue with the company going bankrupt, I’d say MG have an even bigger brand issue than Skoda did.

I can't see myself ever wanting to buy an MG, its right down the bottom of the list with the likes of Kia and the such.

I've got no idea why so many company’s seem determined to chuck money into MG, from what i can gather the brand has very little support in the marketplace?
 
I just think Skoda have sewn up the under badged over engineered market, all these cheap nasty corned beef tins are all just that, cheap and nasty. But thats just me of course.

In the 60s and 70s MG was the Honda S2000 of today, but what were they at the end, a slightly improved Rover, i just cant see them ever returning to the glory days.

They were a good cheap fun sports car, that was their thing, a Triumph spitfire alternative, some brands just need to learn when they are dead.
 
I posted it as I saw it on the BBC news TV. There were about 15 brummies around it all wearing MG overalls, flatcaps, kicking back with a brew wondering if they should carry on and make number 2!
