(UPDATE!) BFG 8800 GTX OC Faulty and no RMA :'(

I switch on my PC the other day and got no picture on the monitor.
Did all the usual checks and found the Card to be faulty and then remembered BFG went bust back in 2010 :mad: so no chance of an RMA.
So I was looking for a new card like the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 480 "Special Edition" 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card but found out it had different power conectors to my old card...
Are there any other cards that still use the PCI 6-pin power leads or Could I use two of these :

im sure they are still doing rma's for gpus read of a few people getting back giggabyte cards. also dont think they went bust think they just stoped doing gpus and some other stuff im sure there still around try doing some googling to find a number/email to ring

Fairly sure there's nothing you can do mate, last I heard people were recieving faulty cards back from RMA saying they could no longer repair them, but that was a few years back.

Personally I'd sell it as spares and try and get hold of another one, the difference between spares and working for the 8800 series isn't much.

If you're lucky it'll last a while, would've worked better with a heatgun and flux though. Reflowed my brother's 9800GT with an £11 heatgun and £5 flux and it's lasted a good month now. It all depends on how bad the problem is, the cooling and thermal cycles of the card, where on the chip the problem is, and how well you do the reflow.

From wiki. BFG got liquidated ages ago. Lucky for me I was able to get a I/O shield for my old mobo when they were closing up :) You know what made me feel really bad, they shipped it from America, the posting must be a pain for them lol.

As of August 2010, BFG is in the process of liquidation, initially only for the GPU business but eventually expanded to include the entire company. As a result of this, BFG is not honoring RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) requests for warranty service, repair, or replacement any longer, instead returning the product to the customer with a short letter explaining the situation

Mine's lasted for months (well over six I reckon) now, it started artifacting once and a rebake sorted it.

Well I got second hand Nvidea 8800GTX of fleebay just in case it went wrong again. But now I want to SLI them both. Problem is it didnt come with the SLI cable? and under device manager it now shows (Unknown Device) "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element." :confused:

But the New 8800GTX shows up in the Nvidia control panel? Will this go away once I get the sli bridge connector, or do I need new drivers also?

I think it should appear with an SLI bridge.

I got the SLI bridge and installed new drivers but I cant turn on SLI? :mad:
Both cards show up in device manager and Everest, but SLI Status is disabled.
I cant see how to turn it on in the Nvidia control pannel

"HELP" :confused:
