The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I think the best bit, bar none is this:

World Shaping
• The Ashab gate in Amarr has been moved to a more convenient location for people undocking from stations in the system.

lol!

*sigh*

Reading that just makes me want to get back into it all.

havent read it yet. been watching overe a friends shoulder doing lvl1 missions and harking back to the day. Been unsubbed for a bout a year and realistically 'out of game' for a bit longer. feeling like having another dip though. We shall see... :)

I think I've finally beaten my mmorpg addiction.

Eve was the last one I played, accounts dating back to 2004 with between 25-50 million SP i think. I've been unsubbed for 8 months, had an email offering 15 days free on each of them but let it slide. Even watching the new FPS add on didn't do anything for me!

Shame the characters are just going to sit there and rot!

I just cant get into it longer than the free 5 days, I even redid my skill points back from learning skills to fit a Raven. Did some L3s and it was like watching paint dry when your not doing some shield management, you kill them all and then spend forever looting or salvaging them.

Also thats IF you can get a battle ship into each of the rooms, cant stand having to go back to using cruisers and other small crap ships to get rep up with another idiot faction that then gives missions like run my farm tractor to 6 jumps away when your sitting in a state of eve art battleship...

Game gets on my goat in for some of its design, other bits I hunger to experience. But the game is very hard and sustain without a good corp and those are very rare in the UK. Tried a few US ones and I wanted to kill half of them after the crap they come out with over Ventrilo, that and the voice come 'rules' stuff. You would recon your in the US army after a night with some of them in charge.

I havn't played since last January or so.

The article is all about Goonswarm and the politics behind it all. Really good read.

Really want to get into this game. But that article has confirmed my (admittedly limited) expereince of the game that not much really happens. You have to play a lot and be involved in the nullsec politics to get the most out of this and I can't afford the time as I have to much RL stuff to get on with.

Real shame as I know I would love this game. Always keep an eye on the goons though, doubt it would happen but would love them to knock the stuffing out of NC.

People who say not much happens really don't push themselves into the game imo. Yes you may have to play for a few months. But even a new player can be an effective player.

Why do missions if you find them boring? People always assume you have to grind like other MMORPGs- you really don't. I haven't run a mission for the isk or "fun" of it for probably a year, I've only a few for building up some standings and regaining sec status. Join a wormhole/lowsec/nullsec corp and rat/mission/run plexes/PvP. Stuff like that is more fun outside of the "safe" areas.

Not really. Although it is great being part of a big alliance that's shaping the political map, there's so much more you can do.

Downloaded the trial again and gave the game the patience and time it deserves. Played for a few hours last night and really enjoyed it. It's a lot more tactical and involved than I first thought and seems quite fun.

Going to perservere with the trial and see how it goes.

Bah lost my ship in a silly battle and didn't know about insurance :o

Had to waste all my money getting a new ship, kitting it out and then because its a missile reliant craft had to invest in missile training skills and sitting staring at the training counter waiting before I can set forth and (hopefully) get my revenge!!! :p

Really enjoying it, combat isn't as boring as it first looks as you need to get people to your optimal range, watch your own shield power etc and your capicitor. Can get quite challenging at times, as my last poor ship found out to its demise :o
