Son writes off his dad's £275,000 supercar

i wonder how far it would travel if you launched it at the optimal angel at a speed of 50mph

Depends on:

- Object Mass
- Object Size / Shape (wind resistance / drag)
- Wind Speed
- Wind Direction
- Angle of release

etc etc, the list goes on and on, would be interesting for someone to work out say a 45 deg angle at a release speed of 50mph for something around 10 - 15kg see how far it would go.

You could always work it backwards i suppose.

Of course he was speeding, and many of us would have done the same.

I doubt there's many people who have driven cars as fast as that and haven't gone over the limit once or twice. I wouldn't even buy a car like that if I didn't intend to speed.

Its quite obvious to me he had a speed wobble when the vinegar strokes set in :D

I've also had a blow out at just shy of 60mph in a mid 90s car (no driver aids etc.), nothing untoward happened there. I pulled over, changed wheels and went on my way.

Surely it depends on how you react in the situation, I saw a car almost overturn because they slammed their brakes on when they had a rear wheel blow out, im guessing a 20 year old in a 275k super car is going to have **** all experience in a situation like that and just go straight for the breaks...

Speaks well for the car that you can walk away from it after a crash that left it in that state.

I wonder what it would cost to insure a 19 year old man for that car here. Maybe the £275,000 mentioned is the annual insurance premium :)

If it had spun, the frictional drag on the tyres and drag of the car would also change. You could calculate the example you posted but for an actual car you'd need a computer simulating it probably.

written off our parents cars rolling them ?

Errrr .. No. No we've not.

Very few of us have binned our parents cars in such a spectacular fashion.

I should have put a emotion at the end as you seem to have missed the sarcasm. Of course we haven't all really done it.
