When can we nominate for Man of Honor ( if we can that is ? )

he wouldnt want MOH out of pity for his condition? thats what your all doing :\

Exactly this. Sure, good for him, but I don't see why he should be singled out.

This thread is one of the things I hate the absolute most about society.

Nah I think you guys are wrong. People aren't just saying "this guy suffers from a disease, let's give him man of honour".

Otherwise anyone who had any serious illness/disability would just sign up to the forums, announce their condition and everyone would say "Hey, you should get MoH!!"

No, that's not what is happening at all. He has had an extremely positive impact on the community. Like pretty much everyone else here, he is a gamer. His determination and effort have been a huge inspiration to others. That's why people are saying that he deserves MoH.

Im impressed, and nearly 300k views on the thread, and 55k signatures on his petition.

Not forgetting the personal signatures from OCuK staff.

Oh.. the card is good too :p

It isn't his petition though, is it?

I wonder if people will stop implying that he started the movement.

It's a sure thing that gareth is a great contributor to the Forums and has done a wonderful thing publicising accessible gaming. He also made the Forums well recognize around the world and that all deserves MoH award IMHO.

Achievement unlocked.

well i see pity and feeling sorry for him, which makes people want to reward him with sympathy, gifts, special treatment e.t.c
people do this all the time... imagine how the guy feels knowing everyone feels sorry for him ? he will want to be treated like everyone else and not made a fuss of.

He has shown himself to be very mentally strong and surprisingly independent. He doesn't need sympathy, and I don't think people are giving him sympathy. They are recognising his exceptional character.

I'm not sure his thread is what MoH should be given out for. He deserves an incredible amount of respect though.

flawed logic, if it's that black and white why was zoltan given MOH for example.

dont hate the player hate the game and all that
i dont hate anyone im just curious... personally i couldnt give a crap about moh and i cant even remember why zoltan or anyone else got it

I would agree with this, he deserves a heap of respect for following his passion for gaming regardless of his disability but at the end of the day, he plays video games with his face, it's hardly pushing the boundaries.

However, it's not my choice and never will be, I'm hardly going to complain if he is, it wouldn't be completely undeserved, the above is my opinion and may well be wrong.

Not only that, but OP mentioned that he suffers from cerberal palsy. No one has even addressed this, let alone tried to make OP a man of honour because of it.

I don't feel pity for his condition.

I do feel highly admirable at his conviction in getting around it.

Indeed. It's not the fact he has it, it's the fact that at least in gaming, he seems to overcome most of it. I think comparison can be drawn with Zoltan. He didn't get the MoH for having cancer, he got it for his outlook on the condition and his courage that he had to the very end.

Also, if Fox can get it, we all have hope....

to be fair until you mentioned that i saw the hyphen in front of last line an assumed it was an over-long signature and didn't even read it :o
