What CPU cooler that's shorter than Corsair A50 for 2600K?

Just put together my new system today, only to find out that the Corsair A50 is too tall. It hits the PSU. (Lian Li V354)

So I'm currently on a 2600K with a stock cooler, and Prime95 pushes all cores to 89-91c, that's quite hot. :D

What's the best cooler I can get that's just a tad shorter than the A50? I think 20mm shorter would be enough.

Cheers,

to get 2 cm shorter your going to have to go with either a 90mm fan cooler like the coolermaster hyper tx3 or a sideways cooler like the scythe big shuriken or noctua nh-c14.

if you are planning to overclock the noctua would be your best bet i think.

The Noctua looks really good, I can't find any place that carries them though. :(
I looked at the Corsair H50/H70 but they won't fit my case without some modding.

May I suggest you go the water cooled kit route, they work real well for the SandyBridge CPU's and certainly they do not cause any interference to the either the ram or the PSU.

Prices are not to bad either. I picked up the Antec 620 for £50, think it is cheaper now. Or the H50 which is about the same price.

Just a thought mind.

Edit.....Did not see your post.

How much modding will the h70 require?
Its a very good bit of kit, if its easily done, then its well worth modding it, ive got the 2600k and can get it to run at 55 degrees under 100% load after 2 hours.
And 31 idle.
Havnt ovwrclocked, bt definatly has potential there.(i do have a mobo fan though aswel) knocked off a few degrees

Edit. Just googled your case and went on images... The first image shows a h50 or h70 in that case.

Also, if the h70 with 2 fans is too big, cant you mount it in this order...

Fan outside the case, then case (depending on temps cut out the grill where it will mount. But probaby wont need it.. then rad with washers on, then the final fan inside.
Just get a fan cover for the rear so its not exposed.

Um...90 degrees means you've not seated your cooler properly.

Even the stock cooler can handle some moderate overclocking, so you've really messed up installation there. Check all the push pins are properly down and the cooler doesn't wiggle.

As to a better cooler, I wouldn't bother with the H50 any more - it's old and gets outperformed by newer models, namely the Antec Kuhler 620 and Corsair H60.

Are you using a Micro ATX board in your system? If so, it could be worth looking at the Corsair H70 if you're looking at doing a massive overclock on a P67 board, however if you're not overclocking much or at all then I'd just stick with the Kuhler 620 or H60 as you won't need the extra cooling power.

Of course if you're not overclocking much or at all, I have to wonder why the K series processor.

Antec 620 and cosair h50 will both fit in the front with no moding. They will also fit in the rear very easily by drilling 4 hold .5cm of the original holes.

The h70 will also fit at the front

just found this while looking for another thread.

the shortest cooler i found with a 120mm or bigger fan ive found is the Zalman CNPS9000-MAX at 152mm tall. do you think this will fit?

if not, put a h60 or similar in, and attach it to the back or top if you can, and the top fan at the front if you cant (i asked corsair and they dont recommend putting the rad below the waterblock because of the air bubble in the system possibly getting stuck in the waterblock. the tubes will definitly reach, they are 11 inches
