On the back of the McD thread, when you are at the pub and you've finished your drink to you take the empty glass back to the bar or do you let the people come round and take them?

At the pub generally I take my empties up if I am going back up to the bar or if I'm leaving, I also do the same in some bars as well.

If I am going back to the bar for another, I usually take my empties with me. Though in the bar I go most often, Sandbar in Manchester, the bar staff are coming by every 5-10 minutes. Sometimes your empty is whisked away moments after your last swig! :p

I think they're so efficient because they're glad of the cooler air outside. Sandbar can be stifling!

It depends on the type of bar / pub, how busy they are, how quickly they are cleaning the tables and the amount of drinks already on the table. I probably do it infrequently.

But leaving your tray out is much worse :p

As an Ex pub manager I always take my glasses back and say thank you as I'm leaving.

Unless the bar staff are crap and leaning against the bar talking to each other whilst their are other tables that need clearing.

If I am going back to the bar for another or walking past the bar on the way out I will take my empties and stick them on the bar on the way past but I wouldn't go out of my way to do it.

Used to do it with random glasses when I was underage and say "Same again please" :D
Worked a treat.

(not encouraging anybody underage to do this) :)

I always take mine back to the bar when i'm leaving.

Same way as i always clear my tables when eating at a fast food place.
