Finally upgraded from a 50D to a 5D2 a couple of weeks ago. I know people complain about the 5d2's AF but it's supersonic compared to the 50D :)

I can't believe I didn't go FF sooner too. Loving it :)

Seriously , rather jealous everytime I see pictures taken from this camera I am blown away, although I was under the impression the auto focus between XXD bodies and the 5Dmkii were pretty much on par?

I hate your face!!!

Was playing with a 5DII in Jessops yesterday whilst looking at my first telephoto and wanted it then and there. The 24-105L stuck on it also seemed like the walkabout lens I have been waiting for all my life.

Really wish I could justify one of these as a 2nd body, would be better for rig shots and also video ***! Couldn't drop down to the focusing though, once you've gone 1 series you can't go back
 
I've been pretty busy lately so I'll post up some recent work soon, in the meantime

I went back to use my 50D at the weekend and it felt like an age for it to AF.

Do you mainly shoot static stuff or have you tried the AF on moving items? I'm beginning to struggle with some of the footy shots that I do with the AF but i still get what i need. What lenses are you using with your new toy as a matter of interest.

A bit of both, actually tried it on tracking shots for the first time yesterday and had no problems with it at all, still really happy with my choice.

Currently have the 50mm 1.8 & 24-105L, I borrow a 70-200 2.8 when needed until such time that finances allow for a purchase myself.

Going to sell my 17-55 2.8 IS as it's EF-S so won't fit the 5d2
 
I'm trying to hold on to my 7D until the next full frame bodies from Canon\Nikon are released, but it's soooo hard. I don't shoot a lot of sports anymore with my main area now being family stuff, so candid portraits etc. Although with the summer coming I've got two charity football\rugby games to cover and airshows are on their way. The biggest issue I have though is the glass lust that comes with full frame. I'm sure a Tamron 28-75 will be fine for my zoom needs, and my Sigma 50mm f1.4 will work well, but I won't be able to afford a 35L and there isn't really a third party choice in that area :( The Sigma 85mm f1.4 is a lens I like the look of and I'm pretty happy with the 70-200... Being sensible I just need to stick with the 7D :) Unless I win the lottery at the weekend!

edit: I was thinking of a 1D3 again as the Sigma 30mm f1.4 is usable on that. I may have just missed out on a bargain on ebay, a 1D3 with 135L that went for £1375...! It was a risky auction though, with not a lot of info, but the seller seemed reasonably genuine.

I've just scratched the FF itch, my 5D2 is on its way from Kerso. Should be in my hands next Wednesday.
Also pulled the trigger on a 17-40L which seemed a good price over on POTN.

Sensibly I should stick with Canon, although I don't have a big monetary investment, but I do like the look of the D700. I wouldn't have been surprised to see the replacement announced this year, but with what has happened I guess they have more important things to sort out!
 
I still have my 50D as a backup to my 5DII, not noticed much in the way of fucus response. seems on a par for me. I really do want another 5DII, cant justify it at the moment and might as well wait for the 5DIII, hopefully a new set of features will entice me. i hope they stick to the same MP count as 21mp is far by enough!
