Hey all,
Headed out for 18 holes later on and suddenly wondered if there are many golfers on OcUK?
If so...
How long have you been playing?
What do you play off and how do you usually play?
What sort of courses do you play?
Anything exciting in the golf bag?
Any good golfing achievements?
For me...
How long have you been playing and how often do you play?
I've been playing around 11-12 years. Sadly only about 6 rounds a year at the minute.
What do you play off and how do you usually play?
Realistically about 16-18. I can usually comfortably go round in par/bogey but invariably will have one or two really bad holes due to lack of practice/inconsistency. Having played this long I think that's my natural talent maxed out without playing significantly more golf - i.e. 3+ times a week.
What sort of courses do you play?
Links as much as possible, but usually pretty flat parkland. Nothing particularly huge in parkland, but some challenging long par-4s on my main links course.
Anything exciting in the golf bag?
I've amassed a pretty nice little armoury over the years - Taylor Made R320 driver, Adams Tight Lies Strong 4 wood, Adams Tight Lies irons (steel/graphite composite shafts), Cleveland Gunmetal SW and RTG LW, Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter. Still absolutely love every single club in my bag, but particularly my irons and putter.
Any good golfing achievements?
Best golfing achievement has to be a pitch-in eagle from 120yds with a 9-iron. Par 4, sitting nicely on the fairway from a 3-iron drive, 120yds left. Hit a perfect 9-iron, ball landed just left of the flag, checked up and rolled in perfectly. I jumped about like a complete maniac for about 2 minutes. Not too sure what the players behind made of it!
Apart from that, a few low-80s rounds and generally nice shots where you crush it or put the ball exactly where you want. Chipping in or sinking a long putt never gets old, and part of the reason why I still get just as excited before a round now as I did over ten years ago.
What about everyone else?
