Kids and footballs in the street

If i got caught hitting someones car with a ball when I was young I knew about it. Can't do sod all now. Once took the ball off some kids next thing I know the police are at my door telling me to give their ball back as it was theft. They had zero interest in the criminal damage they were causing to the cars in the street. They'd have been interested if i'd raised a hand to one of the little bathcurds.

Call the police then? Not sure what kind of replies you are expecting to receive. I used to play football all the time, balls hit cars and the ball went in peoples garden. It's what kids do and what kids should be doing.

goto a phone box tell the police a bunch of kids are playing football in the street and the ball just smashed a cars window, the car owner hasnt came out yet and the kids are just carrying on as normal making a rigth racket and drinking alchohol in the street.

police will come but wont find what they are expecting

I was expecting arrogant trolls like you to come in, after all this is GD on OCUK Forums.

I know thats what kids do, i dont care if it goes in the garden. I do care that they are playing what I think is called Kerbie? (throwing the ball from pavement to pavement) and standing 6 feet from the back of my car when they do it dispite being told not to.

How would you like dents and scratches all over your car Adam? it's just what kids do afterall, destroy your property and get off scot free. Not got a car? how about if they break your house windows instead? not got a house? you figure it out.

I posted on here as i'm sure other have had this problem and I wanted to know if there was a way of dealing with it without having some revenge damage done to my car, or falling out with my neighbours just cos of kids being stupid and not giving a monkeys about anyone elses property.

op is just a ball!! its not exactly a brick is it?

I have at least 3 circular scratch marks on my car from footballs hitting it at a half decent speed. While it may not be a brick it's leaving a visible mark that at the end of the day reduces the value of my cars.

Brilliant, I'm a troll because I disagree with you :D

My car is kept in a locked and alarmed garage for this very reason, I don't like my car being in public and the chance for it to be damaged.

My point is, what can you do apart from asking them to stop? The police won't get involved in something like this so what more can you do? Don't be the person who shouts at them or they'll always be outside your house. Fingers crossed they get bored.

Try and reason with them and explain that you don't mind them playing football, but to keep it away from your car? I know you said you told them off about it before so it'll depend on their initial reaction and the sort of kids they are as to whether it'll sink in or not.

It's also hard to tell how practical this is as we obviously don't know what your road is like and whether there's a nearby park? But there's no need to go heavy handed yet if there's still a chance of doing things the 'nice' way.

Get the ball and hand it into the police station as lost property :)

You can't be done for stealing it then and they will soon get fed up of having to keep going to the nick and claiming it back :D

Keep the ball to your self? Then they will have to knock on your door to get it back and have a chat with the little kids?
