within the last week, ive been having a problem with my internet speed and latency, randomly my ping goes upto 400ms ( in anygame). The only way i have found to fix this problem is to restart the router with the little button at the back, my router is connected to the main socket in the house, i have no other devices using the internet, i have called sky twice first time round they said there were no errors on the line then boosted my speed, the second call she made me do a netstat and said that tier 2 of the department will call me in 24 hours and they have not. I have a white netgear V1 router, my isp is Sky

My stats are:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6073 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 27.2 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 10.5 db

any help is much appreciated.

Sky mate, theres your problem :)

Nah jk lol, seriously though have you tried a hard reset of the router (off at the mains for a good few mins) then power back up?
 
White netgear v1 - theres your problem, teir 2 will phone you within 72 hours and most likely send you the new router and microfilters. If they dont then request it

The white netgear is almost 5 years old iirc.
 
Are you on Sky Connect (the non LLU service)? If so Abandon hope all ye who enter here. Sky can and will not ever provide a decent 20cn/adslmax service... leave and go with someone like adsl24.
 
Isn't upload speed under adsl lower than 796? More like 400 ish?

Could be exchange congestion. Is it worse at certain times of the day?

I'm having huge ping spikes in games recently with ADSL24, so I wouldn't necessarily see them as a solution.
