5850?

No, Can crossfire any brand with any brand, but if one brand has faster clocks, I think they automatically downclock to match the speeds of the slower card

Yes, you can Crossfire any 5800 and 5900 series cards as long as you have two free PCI-E slots on your motherboard (and it supports Crossfire tech., obviously).

Sapphire Extreme isn't "extreme" by any means, it runs at stock speeds so you won't have to worry about it. As pointed out above, if you had one card running at higher clocks, it would downclock to match the slower card. Other than that, they will work just fine.

Make sure that the mobo supports symmetrical Crossfire too.

EDIT: just checked and it doesn't, don't bother with Crossfire on this board.

1 PCI Express X16 slot
3 PCI Express X1 slot
3 PCI slots

Nothing much to add here, Krugga pretty much said everything. I have the same Mobo in my spare Backup rig, unfortunately the Intel P965 chipset on the DS3P does not support native crossfire, major bummer because this model was very popular with overclockers in it's day.

To be honest, if I was in your position, I would look into upgrading my system first, as it will make the 5850 perform closer to its max capability.

With your current CPU, your single 5850 will get hold back in numbers of games.

I agree, Q6600 or equivalent would be the most sensible upgrade with this board.

HD5850 is still a pretty powerful graphics card, certainly capable of playing games at 1920x1080 with most things maxed out.

I play at 3840 x 1024. Not maxed, but good.
Here is Crysis.
