Hi all,

Am thinking of picking up a Galaxy S but have a number of questions hopfully you guys/gals can help out with.

I'm coming from the Xperia X10 which I love but it has some annoying issues for me as a user.

If I decide to get it I'm going to be rooting it via SuperOneClick and removing as much stock Samsung as possible and replacing with my favourite apps instead.

**Does the SGS screen suffer from sweaty hands syndrome. When my hands are sweaty on my X10 holding it, let alone trying to touch the screen the phone goes wild, opening apps, typing text, all manner of crazy things and with summer coming I think my X10 will be unusable.

**How is the ring tone volume and quality, my X10's volume is fine but the actually ring tone sound is terrible, very tinny.

**How is the incall quality. Once again the X10 suffers from low incall volume which is fine in a crowded room but outside it is very difficult to hear the caller.

**How is the quality on the 5mp camera for pics and HD recording. I don't take that many pics so don't think the lack of flash will be an issue but is the HD recording smooth as on my X10 it does tend to freeze and jump a little.

**What tweaks do you recommend to improve the phone. I know there is a lag fix available which improves the phone a great deal. Is this an official fix or a custom one and if so is it easy to apply and which one is the best to choose from (if there are a few from different devs)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help answer some of my questions.

Cheers

To be honest guys to pay £500+ for the SGS2 compared to £250 for the SGS would be a waste for me as and also a worry of having a phone of that price in my pocket. I'd be afraid to take it out from fear of dropping it

Go for the SGS and don't worry about the SGS2 matey. It's a cracking phone for the price and not really worth buying the SGS2 yet if you ask me (unless keeping up with the Jones's is a high priority?)

No idea about sweaty hands, but I've found the touchscreen to be very accurate.

Ring tone volume isn't the highest ever, but it's more than good enough for me. Quality is surprisingly good for a tiny speaker.

In-call quality depends more on the network in my experience, but as for mic pickup, it's the best I've used of any handset, but it is the newest handset I've used. No problems to report.

The 5MP stills are OK. No flash, so fairly easy to blur stuff as with most phone cameras. The HD video is amazing though, far outshines any of the stills and looks great on my PC as well. Very impressed by that.

No need for lag fixes etc anymore, the newest firmwares (including Gingerbread 2.3.3 released today) are smooth as butter from my experience. Even more to gain if you like to tweak and go onto custom ROMs.

Kersey, same reason I bought my DHD now rather than waiting. Be aware of the materials that are used; it is quite well built, but the materials are very light plastics that done feel particularly luxurious (but let me stress again, it isn't a badly built phone at all). And before you make any purchases, go into a store and take a look at the display. It uses a PenTtile Matrix pixel layout which ultimately doesn't look remotely as sharp as a standard layout. However, if that doesn't bother you, then it really won't be an issue.
