hoping the game will be great but those who are swallowing there will be two different games one for pc one for console lol.

it will be exactly same just a few features lessened or toned down exact same game though. your not exactly going to tell a part of your targeted audience oh yeah we cater for consoles primarily to a pc interview :p come on

it does look good i will buy this instead of cod cause theres no way cod can re invent its self in one year it will take two or three years minimum.

Oh my God !

So you mean the pc multiplayer maps will be the exact same as the console maps ?

Damn you consolessssssssssssssssssssss. Console ports failllllllllllllllllllll.

They've already said that the console maps will be cut down versions of the pc ones.

Will people ever understand?

?
You post a link which basically supports what I've said and then make a comment that goes totally against it.

It IS the MP maps they're referring to.

The SP will no doubt be a fairly linear shooting affair with some impressive set pieces, I don't think we expect anything else.
Dice know it's the MP they've got to pull off well, which is why we've heard so little about it, they're still working on it, whereas the SP is probably most of the way there already.

I wish people would stop being SO literal when people say console port.

No one(almost no one) means it as a term ONLY for when a console game is made then ported to the PC. The term GENERALLY is taken to mean a game that has been heavily influenced in design by the fact it will be played and is in part designed to be played on a console.

THe problem with making a map that can be easily cut down, is its designed to be cut down into, workable chunks might be a good terms. As soon as you make that design decision you've made an adjustment to cater for less powerful consoles.

IN terms of a giant map you might have, say a great city/town area in the middle and wide open spaces outside. THe one with the wide open spaces might be the "pc map" and the console map puts in invisible walls and keeps only the small town.

But what if 98% of the time goes on the town, and because of the design of the map almost every player when on that map only stays in the town.

Sorry but people are being ridiculous, unfortunately its almost impossible to design a game for both console and pc and not make LOTS of design decisions based on the platforms the game will eventually be used on. Its also not impossible its been made entirely for the PC and then they send another team in afterwards to optimise, change, cut back purely for the consoles. The real situation is likely somewhere inbetween and no ones really going to know where until a later date.

Graphical it appears to be good news, the footage we've seen so far looks god damned awesome, like, wow. But thats also the easiest thing to make "scaleable".

Gameplay will be the ultimate answer of if it was designed for the console or not or both, or the PC. We won't see that for some time frankly, but the other thing is, gameplay doesn't have to be bad just because it was designed for the console, nor does being designed for a PC make gameplay automatically fantastic.

But the arguments of "console port" or not are ridiculous as most people mean a completely different thing.

Its a bad term, what most people mean is, is it made for hapless 12yr old children to shout at each other over xbox live, or is it a much more accurate, realistic PC almost "simulation" game, neither is accurate, both are stereotypes/generalisations, but thats still in general what people are refering too.

If you remember BF2, if you scaled back the player count it would rope off more and more of the map, leaving you less capture points etc. I guess a similar thing might happen here.

Or alternatively it could be completely marketing B.S. and the two versions might be identical :D

How about making it clear if you're making a sarcastic post?

Sorry, I thought I was was regarding the map link.

There is a 'making your sarcasm post clear to everyone' pill at a location near me.

Good post drunkenmaster.

Until we see hard evidence, to some extent I'm taking what DICE say with a pinch of salt.

God this is getting tiring

It can be on the best engine in the world, but if they do all the gameplay with consoles in mind, then it is a console port, end of.

God it is getting tiring watching you make up your own definition of a console port.

Using  in every post doesn't make you right either bud.

Awesome, COD with updated graphics!

And... I've seen all those before, just put together. Whats the next trailer going to be, the earthquake as the first vid?

Meh

Well yes I wouldn't expect anything else but COD type gameplay from the single player, single player hold little interest to PC BF players, the multi is where it's at. I would expect multi footage next, be prepared to be blown away when that hits.

Also what's with the AI?, pretty much the entire time was the player doing the work... Is that how the battlefield works, you just kill and blow everything up while your squad mates hide?

That's how it works in COD single player, it's a linear short lived distraction from the multi only put in to keep the console crowd happy, I probably won't even touch single player.
