i really want to try and give this game ago..however in the demo (even when not on on dx 11 and with settings turned down to medium) i get really bad fps -_- mostly going from 20-45 within a few seconds. There is nothing at all wrong with my hardware/drivers etc as i can run every other game out there with no problems. I understand metro is a very hardware intense game, but ive seen many others saying about getting a constant 45-60 fps. on dx11 with older gpus like 5870 for e.g.

Would i see any performance increase in the retail version? I seem to remember a few demos in the past that run badly yet when you get the retail copy it runs smoothly.

I've got a GTX 480. It's pretty easy for me to play the game smoothly in DX11 :)

Never tried the demo, but presumably it would've been a WIP type jobby, and therefore they may have optimised the retail version better

do you know on avrage what fps your getting? Lol its a game i REALLY want to try out but at the moment the fps is SO bad its near unplayable.

I'm not sure, at best it's very smooth, can go to 60fps+, at worse it's playable. It's never been unplayable for me. By unplayable I mean <20fps for an extended period of time.

I had the same problem with the demo mate.
Bought the actual game and its running great.
I can only play @ low setting as i only have a hd5550 right now but the graphics are still pretty epic

Something sounds wrong there, A 580 should be able to handle Metro relatively well completely maxed out in DX11. Possibly it's the demo but I can't be sure.

I reinstalled the game last night and performance in DX10/11 was ASS.

i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz and GTX460 OC. At 1920x1200 I was getting < 30fps anywhere there was any action going on.

Everything is set to the max setting

When I say 60fps+, I don't mean constant 60 fps+ :p

Presumably you don't have the 'Advanced DX11 Features' on? (Tessellation and DOF I think).

Anyway, I've just been playing it, at 1920x1200 (no way is it running at top settings on a single 480 at 2560x1600) at full settings (4x MSAA, 16x AF etc, no DOF/Tessellation) and get an easy 60+ FPS indoors, though when outside with the effects and such, more like ~35-40 FPS. Even so, still very playable.

The performance on this game is rubbish no matter what card you have really. I have a 580 and if I run it maxed on DX11 @ 1920x1080 with 4x AA I get 30 FPS for the most part with the occasional dip into the 20s when a lot goes on. If I disable PhsX and tesselation I get an extra 5-10 FPS and you don't notice any graphical difference.

To be honest I don't think the game looks all the great and when you consider the are no open environments like Crysis, the poor performance is inexcusable in my opinion.

Im not debating the above, I personally liked the surface parts of the game.

I thought it looked outstanding!

lol i can run it fully maxed never dips below 40-50fps.

it scales well with older hardware just turn dx11 options off

If I run the game in DX9/DX10 and drop to say high settings then I can get 60 + no problem.

I guess my point is on max settings it runs pants and doesn't look that great compared to other games on the market. Perhaps the dark narrow tunnels don't do it for me............
