ideally i wanted this one:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-424-AS&tool=3

but one of the reviews says its not compatible with 125w cpu and a 955 is a 125w?

will this make any difference?

this is what he said:

Bought this to go with my Phenom 965 (125w) worked perfectly, altho i overlooked the support for the CPU so my 125w version isnt fully supported, appart from my observation fail, it works perfectly, not a problem!

The Asus M4A78LT-M 760G MB officially supports processors upto 95W - but people seem to have success running 125W CPUs in it.

Personally i wouldn't risk it but then i would intend clocking the 955 BE within an inch of it's life.

I would go for the Gigabyte - for the extra £20 you get: peace of mind, can clock the CPU if you want to in the future plus you get Gigabyte's great warranty (UK based.)

EDIT: Or go with the above :)

OCZ is on a this week special at £35 - link

EDIT: As above I too only use the XMS3 (habit) but if money is really tight then the OCZ will do the job

It means it's a product they can't sell as new - either because it's been returned, has slight cosmetic damage or doesn't have all the specified bits and pieces (they normally mention damage/missing items if that is the case).

It also only has a 14 day Overclockers warranty - it then swaps fully over to Asus. This would be a sticking point for me becasue of my experiences with the Asus rma process - they are particualry poor. This is purley personal - but it is something you should bear in mind. It is why i championed the Gigabyte - 10 days turn around.

Seraph is right though if you need all the extras it's a cracking board - if you don't then you just need to pick the one that suits you best.

ok will stick to the gigabyte one then as im not really looking to do crossfire, better support etc.

so will all this work?

955 black edition
GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3?

No worries - good luck with it.

And, although you've bought on a budget, and probably intend using the stock cooler you should still be able to get a reasonable clock (3.6 to 3.8).

Giga 880 boards are great, my 880GMA easily takes my 965 to 3.9+ without breaking sweat.
