Evening gents,

My GF wants to go to Paris for one night in the easter week and so do i, but i'm not sure if it would be a waste.

The plan is to fly from Heathrow and get to Paris for 1pm and then go to the hotel and then go out and see the sights.

The flight back is at 19:30 the next day so we would have most of that day to go around and see the other attractions, but i'm not sure if it would be a waste of money or not.

I really want to go but it's £300 each (that's the train to Airport, Flights, Hotel and Transfer from Paris Airport to Hotel and back) plus about £150 each for spending money, so in total £450.

Can you do Paris in one/two days?

Thank you,

Cas.

Put it in the pot for a good summer holiday. Paris is great but you need longer. Theres also not much point in flying from london, when the train will get you from centre to centre in less time.

This thread is also relevant to my interests.

Although I am going for longer. Sunday AM -> Tuesday PM via Eurostar.

The flights are cheaper and take a shorter amount of time!

Trust me I travel to Paris every single week at the moment: forget flying. I used to live in Bristol and fly BRS-CDG- Major pain in the ass. I now live in London and hop on the train- dead easy.

CDG airport is a good 25 minutes by train from the centre and all the crap that goes worth it on top.... :/ unless the price difference is massive, it's hugely not worth it.

Also 1 night is too short. Paris is nice enough but you are paying way too much for the amount of time you get there.

But you appear to have made the cardinal sin with Air travel times...

The 2 hour wait at departures and all the faffing
The 1/2-3/4 hour faff at the other end getting through customs and picking up luggage
The half hour trip by train/bus/taxi to actually get into the centre of the place you are staying at...

Or you hop on a train, with a half-3/4 hour amble at this end and a 15 minute amble at the other and get straight into the centre of town... :p

But yeah the flights are normally cheaper unfortunately.:(

3 days minimum - it's not worth going for one. Look at travel websites that include a Euro train and hotel - you can get some amazing deals, cheaper than what you're going to pay!

You'll really regret going for a single night. You want atleast an entire day that doesn't include travel. Early flight on Friday, late flight Sunday. That would be ideal.

Surely a massive waste of money?

I have just booked 4 nights in Berlin for £270 each inclusive of flights, return first class rail travel to the airport and 4 star hotel.

To pay more for a single night in Paris seems.. bonkers?

Comparing one of the cheapest European capital cities with one of the most expensive... well done.

1 day, imo, is a waste. 450 squids for such a short 'holiday' is overpriced tbh.

Yeah my thoughts to be honest. You would also be rushing around trying to get through everything rather than taking time to enjoy it.

Saying that, I hated Paris. My wife loved it.

One night in Paris? :D

I wouldn't bother for that price really.

I see what you did there
