Hargreaves comeback confirmed

I don't think there is anybody, other than the most desperate of teams who would consider signing Hargreaves now, 6 minutes in three years, wasting one of your precious 25 squad places on a player with a history of not just regularly getting injured, but regularly getting injured with season long injuries...........

You would have to be certifiable.

I think plenty of mid-table teams will take a gamble on him should he become available because they know if he gets fit they will have a potentially great player on their books. There's no risk for them if it only means denying a reserve player a spot in the 25 man squad - and on top of that plenty of sides submitted squad lists with fewer than 25 players in September. Giving up one of those free slots would represent zero risk.

Exactly - and I can see him even signing pay-as-you-play deal for a mid-table club to prove himself (with a permanent deal in original contract if he plays X amount of games)

I still wouldnt be surprised if Utd offer a similar deal (as a rumour suggested a couple of weeks ago), from the statements so far I dont think Gill or Fergie have made a definite decision as yet (its that close a decision)

Sorry, I dont see it, I think he will be released at the end of the season and announce his retirement in august when nobody signs him.

If he was fit and ready over the summer and utd released him, I'm sure someone would want him.

United took Michael Owen....

I would like us to keep him on a short term pay as you play deal then if he can stay fit and play through pre season give him a squad number if not then cut him loose.

So you are suggesting a pay as you play deal to only cover pre-season?

Pay as you play until Dec I would have thought, any shorter he might as well try somewhere else anyway

Money isnt going to be an issue on either side, and Im not sure even if a squad number is either (given Utd havent used 5 or 6 players from the current squad this season by a quick count) - and its unlikely to affect a purchasing decision either

Laughs - Fergie has never had a problem being ruthless when he needs to (apart from the odd blind spot for Scholes and Neville and some might even include Fletcher as well), so OH is probably already out the door

MO wasnt that good a signing - he was worth a punt, but it didnt really work out that great. Yes he got a few crucial goals (incl 4th in the local derby last season), but he also had spells out when he could have been useful.

Owen did what he was supposed to do. He was a free transfer and he scored a few decent goals.

Darren Fletcher is a huge worry.

If im wrong i will say sorry but i have it on good authority that Man Utd think he has ME rather than just a virus. He cant even take his kids to school in the last few weeks and he is simply sleeping, hence the weight loss SAF was talking about.

Not another ITK. Fletcher's back in training.

I hope so. He has had a really tough time. Im not an ITK but there was genuine concern about Fletcher and his health. I will be happy when he is back playing. Im not trolling but i do trust the opinion of those closest to the situation.

Save your rolleyes thanks.

lol

Owen hadnt been out for.......................THREE YEARS.

When they signed him.

Owen Hargreaves has been out for THREE YEARS.

He has been unavailable for so long I dont think he even qualifies to put "footballer" down on his job description any more.

How good do you think someone who hasnt played for THREE YEARS is going to be when they come back anyway?

Cue the 'form is temporary class is permanent' BS :D

Google that and you get not 1 result, you're talking balls again :p

Thats because it didnt come from google.

You can laugh if you like but it came from someone who is friends with his agent and works with a member of that family. I believe his agent is the guy who was married to Davina Taylor and is also the agent of De Laat and Shawcross and another family member was engaged to Ryan Giggs years back.

The concern for Fletcher was based on his complete lack of energy (couldnt even take his kids out in the car), sleeping constantly and loss of weight.

I had that once, it's called post viral fatigue syndrome and is extremely common.
