I've had to go back to my 275 at the moment after buying a GTX480 SOC and having to return it.

While i'm waiting for the refund i am trying to decide what to do/buy. I really liked the power and performance of the 480 so i would like to purchase another card that has the same performance as the soc.

I don't want to go the sli route as my motherboard isn't compatible and some of the games are not either that i play. so what will i need to buy to keep the same/slightly better performance?

Nvidia 570 isn't going to cut it is it? so is the only option a 580 and up?

Cheers

If you want to stay away from a 480 you could get a 6950 and unlock it. Not as powerful (not much in it) but it will be cooler/quieter and draw less power over a reference 480. I think the SOC is more powerful/cooler/quieter!

ive got exactly the same dilemma.

think im gonna go for the 580gtx although it wont be from ocuk as id like a evga card for the warranty.

its a shame ocuk wont stock the cards as evga sell to other e-tailors. kinda cutting your nose off imo.

But at £100 more than the 480 it's a safe bet of slightly better performance and stability.

Seems a lot but I know I'd be safe with a 580

It's no gamble at all, if it doesnt run according to spec you send it back.

Correct but the time and messing about sending back and forth if again the next card is bad! Which has happened to some on here, even people are underclocking to gain stability, totally defies the point of the soc

BS
the 480 runs quieter. They are very close in temps though.
My 480 may always be at 100 but it is still quieter than my 6970 at 45.

i herd the GTX 570 and 480 are very simular performance, but the 570 as we all know uses less energy, and is more effective, a litlebit more of a cost but im sure you should be albe to overclock it to past the performance of the 480.

if your still unsure about 480 i guess its a option
