Just had a call from my brother saying that he wants to load Windows XP onto his Panasonic Toughbook, but he doesn't have the drivers for the laptop due to it being second hand.

Anyone know if XP will run fine on said laptop?

Anyone know where I can find drivers for said laptop?

I've done a quick Google search, but because the model is discontinued it's proving difficult to find a working link for the drivers.

Haha, I see. He said it was old, but he didn't say how old lol.

Cheers guys, I'll let him know that he's better off sticking with the OS that's already on it (think he said 98).

Tell him to get a new laptop as well! :p

Lol, I think he just bought it for his daughter to use and blip about on. She's only about 13 I think, so she doesn't need an Alienware or anything lol.

I s'pose the clue of it being an ancient machine was when he said it was running Windows 98 lol, I didn't take much notice though.

How old is that laptop, just out of curiousity?

Just rang him and he said it's already running XP, but it's a dodgy version.

He wants to stick his legit copy on the laptop, but doesn't have the drivers.

So laughing and mocking aside... where can I find the drivers? Lol.

If you are wanting to use XP, you might be able to get away with simply installing it and using windows update? Maybe...

Should have brought a ThinkPad (2nd hand). The CF-37 is 10 years old!

If you get some more ram, windows XP will run. I suggest 256Mb minimum. 512Mb preferable. We used these and similar laptops for construction site use and they were quite capable and very rugged. Most were running win2000 on 128Mb, a few were upgraded to 512mb for XP.

Don't know what your on about Vinni3 as XP's specs are:

Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600)or higher resolution
Sound card
Speakers or headphones

& that laptop does exceed them, ok i will admit it won't fly but it WILL run XP
