Who here believes in UFO'S?

When you look at the numbers involved in the stars and planets, other life it almost a certainty. I imagine the universe is teeming with life.

Sure. Why not.

If you're going to believe in mumbo jumbo hokery pokery then at least these won't judge your lifestyle and condemn you to hell for not conforming to an ancient and outdated set of 'rules'.

Little green men? Ok, take me to your leader. Etc.

I watched a documentary on this a few weeks ago. Physicists proved that distant space travel wasn't possible because it is just so far away. (I think this is BS.)

I do however believe that sometime, somewhere, somehow some form of alien life MUST have visited our planet, as I do believe intelligent alien life (Like us) exist.

On the other hand, the US goverment, particularly the military sector released images and stories of UFO's to cover for their own Renaissance's and surveillance over Russia.
This lead both the American public and Russia to believe that UFO's existed. Even the people that made up the stories became to believe it themself.

Faster than light travel is feasible with present understanding, also why MUST they of visited us?

Also what happened to op I was looking forward to a response to the uk visit after he's read wiki article.

UFOs, yes, as in 'unidentified flying object', but I don't buy into the 'aliens came and ran anal testing on me' stuff you see. Most 'incidents' can be explained by people over-exaggerating, being drunk/high at the time, or simply planes at night.

That's another thing, why is it always at night? It couldn't possibly be that our vision is not so great at night could it? :D

Well anything that isn't identified and appears to be flying is a UFO, so in that sense I believe.

That doesn't automatically make them aliens though, and despite all the "overwhelming" evidence, there isn't actually any solid evidence by which the scientific community can say, "Yes there are aliens, here is the proof" So at this current time, I do not believe aliens are or have visited earth, that doesn't mean they don't exist, haven't in the past or will in the future.

In short, there isn't enough solid evidence.

By the way the Fermi paradox is an interesting read:

Erm, well done for telling me exactly what I said but in a load of jargon instead?

Want a cookie or something?

Indeed, and Gods.

How do you reconcile that duality of belief?

Surely if you are open-minded and have the world-view that you have just described how can you dismiss the concept of God in whatever form, yet except other concepts using that same set of criteria?

Surely you cannot use the "there is no empirical proof, so it doesn't exist" arguement to dismiss one concept, while embracing it for another?

Are you confusing open mindedness and naivety?

You can be open minded to scientific approach and theory but not necessarily open minded to factless bile, such as perhaps the bible?

I think it's possible that there is other life that exists outside of Earth, but I haven't seen anything that has convinced me that is the case.

Is that not a little hypocritical?

No it isnt because you are comparing apples to oranges.

Scientific understanding about life and organic existence, and the vast scale of the universe fully supports the idea of there being other planets within habitable zones like ours somewhere else within the Universe.

The idea of God is not supported by any scientific knowledge.

Well said, but Castiel and his followers wont ever see beyond their own blatant errors and flaws.

Do I believe in objects that are flying and are unidentified. ie a can of unidentifiable soft drink launched by a chav.

Yes.

Do you believe in Jools Holland?
