This is pretty outrageous considering the PC made this game what it was in the beginning now EA shaft PC gamers

EA really need to get with the program as something like this will cause more bad feeling towards their PC games as you cannot tell me if they include the game on the consoles (which must be remastered as well otherwise it would not run properly on the 360/PS3 hardware) they cannot simply offer it to PC gamers as well

No wonder EA had no comment! This is similar to when Dead Space2 was not intended for PC either until PC gamers protested about it so spread the word if you want to get a free Alice1.

Does the first one play on modern set-ups? I've got a copy and play it on my back-up XP machine, but will it play on W7/Vista with a quad-core and current GPUs? However, if they could adapt it to run on 360/PS3...

Unsure but the principal is that if they can tweak (you have to assume they have done something to the gfx as well & made them a little more modern) to run on consoles why can they not let PC gamers have this for free as well its pretty unfair considering the profit margin on PC is actually much higher as no royalty fees to MS/Sony plus digital sales generate the most profit for EA & all other publishers on PC (no middle men to take a large slice).

Exactly, that's what I meant by that last bit of my post. My regard for EA, as negative as it is, would've went up a hair had they taken the time to make it so we could play the first one on modern set-ups well. Instead, it plummets further...

I've not had any problems on my 64bit Win 7 setup.

Ive got one of the original Alice in my car, was going to give it away here to someone but he never sent me his address.

Alice 1 is one of the only PC games that's rare and commands a high price, no re release :p

I paid £40 for Wing Commander 4 DVD edition, I could probably get my money back if I sold it on but I don't have any intention since it's very rare.

Poor move on the part of EA here, I thought they were doing a good job of supporting the PC recently but then they drop the ball on something like this.
