Hey all, just thought Id update everyone now Im back from my Vegas trip!

All in all I had an amazing time.

We stayed at the Stratosphere, which was actually pretty nice! Never did get the courage up to go on the rides on the top mind...

Drove a Mustang Convertible to the Canyon and back, and while it was a 4 hour drive each way, it was not half as bad as expected! Was quite a nice drive and having the Mustang made the whole trip brilliant!

Grand Canyon was epic, I would have liked to of taken the helicopter trip down the canyon but unfortunatly I had spent too much money at the gun store (:D)

Id have to say the Gun Store was the highlight of my week!

I shot a Colt 1911, Thompson, Ak47, M4 and a Sig 552. My friend shot a Desert Eagle, Thompson and M4.

We paid the extra $50 to have a semi-private range, which was well worth it! It meant we didnt have to stand in line for ages and had time and space to record decent vidoes and get some nice pictures!

The guns were amazing! I had never really considered that the smell of gun powder would be so strong! Had to shower after due to all the black marks down my arms :D

Ill see if I can get some pictures sorted out, but if anyone is going soon and has any questions its all pretty fresh in my mind :)

Hehe I didnt lose that much! :D

I won about $80 on black jack one night (from $20)
Also played my first ever proper poker game and got to the final table!

Also had a lot of luck on roulette the first night (which quickly run out by the second!)

Id say I spent about $400 in total gambling, but won back about $160 of that!

When you say an extra $50 for the semi-private range, was that each or total?

Must admit I plan on spending a good amount of time in the Gun Store so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

That was $50 each.

Initially we each chose the custom package which was $160 each, with which you can choose 3 weapons, with double ammo on any pistol or semi auto rifle.

Then obviously the $50 additional took it to $220 each for 3 weapons in semi private range (there are 2 range lanes, when we were there it was just us but you can have upto 2 groups in there, each with their own instructor)

We found it was very much worth the extra $50! I would have loved to of spent more there (and also to have taken the sexy sexy sexy gun store girl home!!!!)

It was a great experience! I can very much recommend the AK47, and my mate had a blast (literally!!) firing the .44 Desert Eagle!

A couple of days later I went back and fired the M4 and a Sig 552 with Acog scope, I absolutly loved the sig! Even tho it was only set to single shot it was great fun and deadly accurate with the acog!

The M4 is nice! But I did find (as did my friend) that it kicks up and to the right a lot! Something I didnt find with the AK

TBH it's the scariest ride I've ever been on , you could have a second go for half price .... no one did . Having said that the view from 1,149ft plus 160ft of Vegas at night was pretty spectacular :)

you can't fly down into the Grand Canyon in helicopter, only over it

been to gun store a few times and never seen any queues, sounds like it is getting more popular

Oh I like the idea of that custom package, will probably give the Sig 552 a go after what you've just said. I'm (unfortunately) going there with the wife, so an extra $50 each seems a bit steep when I'm paying all of it.

check on the queues before paying the $50, never been busy when I have been there, Davepen may have just caught a busy time

If you want to spend " a good amount of time" there then take lots of money, you can get through $150-200 an hour easily

False! (or at least was false in 2009)

The wife and I took a flight through the grand canyon in a helicopter and landed in the canyon for a picnic. At which point I nearly stepped on a rattlesnake and promptly **** myself.

Try jumping out of a plane at 16,000ft :D

I'd love to have a go on that rollercoaster. I haven't personally been to Vegas, but a friend did get married there and had paid for a live streaming package, so I watched the whole thing!

nope, you probably went to the West Canyon ( sold by dubious companies such as Hualapai Indians etcas the West Rim ) it is illegal for helicopters to fly below the Grand Canyon rim

I just looked at the tour in question, and it seems that you are right. I feel slightly cheated now.

all the more excuse to go back :)

the West Rim ( for those that call it that ) is 3500 ft deep and 4 miles wide compared to 6k deep and 18 miles wide at the South Rim

The West Canyon is located in the Grand Canyon national park but not really seen as being part of the Grand Canyon to people outside of the tourist industry
