I'm still undecided on a career but dentistry or engineering would be ones that I would consider. Out of those a-levels which would you value most and what choice would be better?

I'm thinking of going option 1 as it seems to be the most flexible as it would allow me to do dentistry and engineering.

What would you choose?

Chemistry/Biology/Electronics/Computing.

Humanties are a waste of an option to be honest.

Humanities like a Foreign Language and History aren't a waste, just make sure you have a) Maths and b) Physics to go with them.

Edit: Get a good grade in all 4 of those (Maths, Physics, History, German/French) and you'll easily get a place in Oxbridge, and that will set you up for life.

If you're certain about going down the medicine/science/engineering route do option 1. If you're not, do option 2.

I'd personally do option 2.

Chances are that you would not get in a uni for engineering unless you did 3 sciences at least. You realize how competitive it is? Humanities and foreign langauges would not be preferred over two other sciences.

Edit: About Oxbridge, it would be a good idea if you looked at the average tariff points. It's around 570, which is 4 A stars, but in decent subjects.

Option 1, if you're looking at Engineering/Dentistry then a the Maths/Science combination will stand you in a much stronger position than a Humanities subject.

Do:

Maths
Physics
Chemistry/Biology
Photography

Would be good to do an arty subject unless you're brilliant at studying.

There's nothing wrong with doing history (it's a good A level) but for the direction you're heading in the above would be the best option.

The OP is talking about highly academic subjects required to get in to two highly competitive areas of study. Doing an arts subject is going to be zero use to him, and will more than likely not be considered by the university as a relevant A level - he would be better doing no subject at all and saving his time!
