Any BOSE Owners Out There?

My experience with Bose is you pay a lot of money for what you get, in other words you pay for the brand rather than the equipment. I'm sure many will agree.

I knew this would come up and I quite agree, but under the skin you are also paying for the technology which most people don't understand.

Well, they're products are well put together and I'd say the sound is consistent. For me the problem is it's consistently terrible, inaccurate and very bass heavy but if that's your thing then I can understand why people like them. But even then, you can get better for less in every product category even if you want that sound. They're something of a lifestyle brand...

its a transmission line, its not that hard to understand - i think its more a case of people not knowing how the wave products in particular are designed. transmission lines are great but not without their drawbacks. A friends father has a wave music system and the yeah it's capable of a huge amount of bass relative to its size. but for the best part of a grands worth of kit, the sound is rubbish. its woolly, slow, the separation is (understandably) poor. it's not a product i would ever seriously consider.

Bose stuff has lots of apparent 'technology', but that does not equal quality. I've listened to plenty of Bose stuff, and found their QC15 headphones to be excellent until the music played. The isolation via noise cancellation is astonishing, but the sound quality is average to poor for the money.

Have thier over ear headphones. They are by far the best headphones i have owned in terms of sound quality, but as others have said you can probably find better for the money.

In many ways they are the apple of the sound market, you pay a lot for the brand. The lesson i have learnt is always try before you by with anything sound related (if you can that is ) as its such a subjective quality that what i think is good may appear terrible to others.

i got bought a pair of bose over ear headphones, i mean the sounds pretty good, but it's just the comfort that stops me from replacing them

This is so true haha :)
Got to say though bose do make some beautiful looking systems

Bose have a particular sound which I personally really like. I don't agree with their prices to quality but their aftercare is usually very good, with their headphones I've found that they are very comfortable in comparison to others.

Bose are good marketing company and know how to prey on the ignorant. They sell gear with mediocre sound quality at high end prices.

Not ignorant, some people like their sound. Try not to be so high and mighty.

Just because you don't like them, many thousands of other people do.

+1.

I have several pieces of Bose, at home and in the car, and I personally like the sound they give.

Yes they do tend to be expensive, but as said the service is good.

@ OP, Have a listen yourself and make your own mind up. don't let other people influence your decision.

Like me you may like the quality of sound they offer.

This topic has been done to death on probably every audio forum.

Some people like BOSE, others don't. Its best to just give objective descriptions of the sound of a headphone/speaker and not subjective personal opinions about it. However, as nickrose has said, there is no substitute for listening to equipment for yourself and making your own mind up.

I used to sell Bose products at Harrods a few years back- I still remember the bose reps mantra 'demo or die!'.

I also had the pleasure of selling more traditional high end hifi from the likes of Meridian/Pathos/Chord etc

Most Harrods customers were not even interested in demoing the good stuff- they just wanted to hear the 'amazing surround sound from such tiny speakers' which in my opinion is what Bose do well- small stylish speakers that make loud noise (not good sound- imo!)

Funny thing is, we were selling the Bose lifestyle system for £4k when you could put together a system using Monitor Audio/Kef/B&W for half that and get better sound!
