Android contacts... Slightly annoyed :(

Well, with my WP7 I sold the other day, contacts were dead easy, it stored and saved all my contacts on live. I just tried to sync them to my new android phone and it has made a right mess of it, duplicating LOADS of contacts from my facebook...

Is there a 'app' so to speak to handle all these duplications ect ect and sync all contacts with ease?

You probably have one copy of your contacts from Live and one copy from FB. You need to link them in Android (which will make them merge as one), or in the address book choose not to see FB contacts.

Yup as said above, you probably have them twice in Live in FB. Merge them and all will be fine! I've found the Android contacts management to be great!

What's the phone?

iirc someone here had major headaches with HTC Sense contact sync, might be a similar problem?

Well that is just it guys, I can't add a windows live account

Any ideas? This is on a HTC Desire btw.

Not sure if it's the best way, or even how well it would work, but personally I'd try to sync the live contacts to gmail first, and then just let your phone sync to gmail with the basic android sync,

That apparantly guides you how to do that, not got a live account to test so not 100% sure how good it is but might be worth a try...

I can see this duplicating a all 600 of my contacts lol.

I just hope that once I merge gmail, it then merges all 'identical' contacts already in my list... must admit, this is the ONLY thing that I miss from WP7, it had suggestions on who 'might' be duplicates automatically, made things so easy

But other than that, was ****.

you can always stop phone from syncing contacts from facebook ... but if your contacts have same as on facebook, then phone should merge them as said above

Nope... This is not good for me due to having contacts from both facebook and live... I did the import from live to gmail, but again, this has just made a huge mess in my contacts, tons of duplicates and loads of half jobbed contacts from gmail. All facebook contacts cannot be edited.

This is becoming a real issue for me now

Have over 600 contacts and this is just a splitting headache if I am honest. Looks like I will have to sit down and enter them all in manually

Thought i was going to have the same problem with my Desire HD. Had 300 contacts duplicated 2-3 times. 15 minutes later... "Matched Contacts Suggestion"

Don't think the Desire has that option...

Were the contacts from gmail and fb?
