Anyone else fed up of seeing adverts for Ipad, Iphone, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, App store this and App store that and all the other repeated crap. Thankfully dont watch TV much but when its on and you see the odd advert pop up its always one of the above. About 10 years ago everyone moaned about mobile phones been bricks (which they were), then they got smaller now you have these huge ipads and window phones etc.

Also why do ITV 2 have to persist in advertising / showing crap like Kerry Katona and Katie Price The Next Chapter, what a pile of ****

Also find it annoying that nearly every show on tv is now associated with Facebook or twitter crap.

Whats the TV license for, surely they could get rights for showing some premier league games or something, always the same crap programs, cant stand any of the soaps or dramas or anything really. Mostly only watch Match of the day 1 and 2 at weekend, and sometimes Russell Howard good news on BBC3 when its on but thats about it the rest aint worth the license fee.

TV is pants, it really is!

Glad I watch some of the games live when I can or down the pub.

Anyone else think TV is utter rubbish or just me

rant over :D

I just watch most of the stuff I like on the internet now whether it'd be Iplayer, Veoh, Youtube or other methods.

I only watch the actual TV in the mornings with a cup of coffee before work, generally sick of adverts every 15 minutes which ruins it for decent shows.

I agree, since i went to university i havn't ever really watched TV. When i come back home i wonder how people can put up with it to be honest. There's the odd entertaining show, but i find the soaps/adverts/reality shows/talent shows utter rubbish.

Apologies to those who frequent the soaps etc :p

edit: I watch QI a lot. Forgot about that, but that's good quality TV in my opinion.

Yes, there's a lot of brain drain. Stick mostly to Sports, natural history and news programs myself. Majority of my viewing though would be DVD and blu ray. TV advertising for the most part annoys the hell out of me, although you do get the occasional gem of an advert, but they seem to be few and far between nowadays, just hard sell now.

What annoys me about TV is the unrelenting focus on celebrities (from A list to Z list). Every program has to include them, or be presented by them, or have them endorse some product/brand.

It's even worse over here. I don't even bother watching TV anymore - I use Netflix HD streaming to my TV or some other on-line method for the few shows I actually like.

95% of TV is complete brain-dead garbage. Fortunately, there are a handful of shows that are brilliant - Mad Men, Dexter, Deadwood, etc.

I'm just waiting for the advertisers to find a way to infiltrate Netflix - everybody I know uses it now and is ditching their sat/cable in droves. Advertisers must be carping themselves. I just know there will end up being adverts on regular Netflix streaming eventually - then you'll have to pay a bunch more for "Premium" Netflix with no ads

That's an interesting prospect actually. Because if you are not watching 'live' broadcasts you don't need a TV license.

One advert I've noticed A LOT, is that during every ad break there seems to be one of those Direct Line adverts where DL pretend they've got a branch to go to for advice and that silly bint/Alexander Armstrong with a bad moustache try to tell them they don't believe their deals.

Is it just me, or is it on all the time?

My mom constantly watches this ****. Peter Andre, Katie Price, Kerry Katona, any random 'I'm a Z list Celebrity, look at my mundane life' show in fact.

It's just so sad that people watch this stuff, it's just...worthless. The same goes for chat shows and reality tv. My dad is always watching Jeremy Kyle and Jerry Springer. Do people like watching people worse off than them? I just don't understand the appeal.

I don't even watch normal tv anymore, if i want to watch anything from the terrestrial channels i just watch the programmes i want on the i player, itv player and 4od when i want to. Gone are the days when you have to sit down at a certain time to watch a programme.

I can see the tv model as it is now, with content being broadcast to a set schedule, dissapearing sooner rather than later. I can't even remember the last time that i sat down to watch a tv show..through my tv at it's scheduled time.

Yep, a lot of TV is rubbish. On the odd occasion that I find something that looks interesting on a not BBC channel I analyse the adverts and try and think about the feelings and ideas it's meant to convey, and pick holes etc. - makes advert breaks much more interesting!

I generally dislike a lot of BBC stuff nowadays as well, but there are still odd times when I spot a decent program. e.g a few days ago I turned the TV on and merchant of Venice was on http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00fq2rs/The_Merchant_of_Venice/ . Ordinarily I find Shakespeare stuff dull, but I really enjoyed that one.

However, even stuff that would on the face of it interest me like the Brian Cox things end up being absolute balls as well - He spends ages on the sweet nothings, and as soon as he gets to anything interesting it just gets glossed over so they can play some more dramatic music or tell me how amazing the universe is.

So yep, I am disappointed with current TV, but if you look carefully there are still a few worthwhile programs. If I had to pay the licence fee myself I wouldn't bother, I'd just do something else.

edit: Something that's always annoyed me about certain quiz shows is how they ask questions about other TV shows - 'in which season of Hollyoaks did slagchops first appear?'. It's not real, or even worthwhile stuff!
