EDL and Muslim group apply to protest Royal Wedding.

Cheets64 is neither a gentlemen or a scholar, the sad truth is he speaks for a sizeable proportion of other ill informed people who live in this country and hold the same ideals and opinions, it seems a narrow viewpoint with the lack of ability to see the bigger picture combined with preconceptions that have no actual substance fuel these peoples bigoted views.

I don't think everyone who says 'gtfo if you don't like it here' is tarring all muslims with the same brush. I think most people realise that it's only the minority of extremist muslims causing trouble, and it's them that they're referring to. We ARE too tolerant of these people imo, there is no doubt about that, and even trigger happy, who I understand is a muslim, also agrees they should leave if they're not happy. Of course, if they did leave, they'd miss out on the free benefit handouts they probably get.

As has been said, almost every other day, we hear in the news about some extremist muslims complaining about something in the country, be it the bingo halls called 'Mecca', a monument or building they object to which looks too much like some holy shrine of mohammed, or a wedding. Enough is enough. People are sick and tired of hearing about these people in the news, always over something not only petty, but absolutely pathetic. They should never be allowed any platform to be heard from, regardless of a democratic society. They've already banned them from protesting in westminster, which flies in the face of the right to speak freely, so if that can be done, then there's no good reason why it can't be done all the time for these fanatics.

dude, anyone who says they are sick of minorities complaining should look at the jews. They have the largest lobby groups in the United Kingdom - FULL STOP. Granted they don't rant and rave like the odd numpty 'muslim' here and there but they are the biggest 'complainers' as you term it.

Don't exactly see any of you saying anything about them..... Thats simply because you don't hear about their complaints - they are very well organised and complain through the 'correct' channels.

When you read about these extremist muslims doing what they do, bear in mind 3 points:

A)- Who runs/writes the media its being spouted in? (Why don't you ever hear the term Christian Extremist, Catholic or protestant extremists when a bomb goes off in Ireland? - seems that term, terrorist and fundamentalist is reserved for muslims these days) - The media have allot to answer for, especially for duping the average 'sheep' , but then again most of them spend most of their time too drunk and can only seem to understand the sensational headlines - i.e. one sentance in BOLD....

B)- They are a severe minority amongst the UK's muslim population.

C)- A REAL muslim would not act in that way - A REAL muslim would know we are living in a NON-Islamic state and as guests, HAVE to respect the laws of the land as commanded by Shariah Law (bet you didn't know that eh?) - Maybe if you looked into what a REAL muslim should be like then you may realise most of these 'extremists' have allowed themselves to become misguided and are practising a religion they doctored themselves.....

As for all the redneck comments about 'going back home' I suggest you look at your own ancestory and begin to realise that the UK is not 'home' to many (The welsh are as close as you get) - just because you are white does not mean you are a 'native'.

I do more for my society (Thats the Kirklees borough) than I bet you do for yours - contributing NOT for the money, fame or recognition but to make life here a better place for ALL of us (just like them muslims mentioned working in hospitals - we are encouraged to HELP society and not be greedy - with the reward for our actions being in the afterlife for being good) - THIS is my home and no matter how much you bitch about it - I will always call the UK my home - As a proud British Muslim.

How about they **** off to a Muslim country and do it form there, instead of being in the UK and moaning about our way of life/culture for centuries.

Yes I agree. I like the laws and they way of life currently in Britain (as mentioned above)

Yea your name kinda implies a lot. If they were to do this in another country we would probably gun them down in cold blood. Like we do in Libya, Afganistan, etc.

Just out of curiosity, how effective do you think they would be campaigning for western style crusades into the middle east if they were protesting it in the ME? little to non, at least they have good tactics that will get them noticed and help them achieve their aims and objectives...

Just an observation and not a criticism.

To be honest I never hear people describing themselves as a proud British Catholic or a proud British Anglican or a proud British Jew etc etc... like myself, most of the people I've come across, simply describe themselves ( if they use the word proud) as a proud British citizen.

I'm just curious as to why the need to describe yourself as a proud British Muslim?

You might in the right context.

I normally wouldn't - taking into account all the anti-muslim remarks in this thread I think its pretty evident why....;)

It's a term I often hear used by Muslims born or settled in the UK and just wondered why the need to identify themselves as Muslims when referring to themselves in a British citzenship context!

Because to some people nationality is just as important as religious identity. Obviously, to many others their religious identity takes precendent.

These individuals obviously first and foremost identify themselves with being a Muslim as that transcends statehood, but they are obviously also proud of being British and hence identify with that too.

However, I do agree with you. Although there's no such thing as being 'British' anymore as it is many different things to different things, religious and other identities should not come into it when dealing with the meta-identity of statehood. To declare yourself as British-other, you aren't really identifying with being British at all. However, on the same side of the coin you are also identifying with exactly what it means to be British.

Best to not get too riled up over labels. Nationality is a dying ideology anyway.

That's all well and good, but I'm not talking about the REAL muslims, if you'd read my post properly. Who cares if the extremists are a 'severe minority', they still make the headlines almost every day. They DO actually want to protest at the wedding believe it or not, the press isn't making it up.

All I'm saying is that the extremists should never be given a voice when more harm than good will come from whatever rubbish they have to say. The jews don't cause disruption or violence, so it's a crappy comparison.

I wish the gov would instruct the news and media to not give the extremists a voice. Yeah yeah, free speech blah blah blah. But it is for the good of the nation.
I personally think we should be religiously neutral bacause athiests are nearing becoming the majority? Im probably wrong.

Jews, right, beware the Jew, why will he make you eat kosher?, you are way off track there, and if you want to take things in ancient historical context with regard to ancestry at least in religious terms we all come from the house of Abraham.

As for the welsh, well the thing is we have no division, so there can never be a problem with ancestry there, we are a group of small nations on two large and numerous small islands, a native population shaped by invasion and conquest, we also have little tolerance for those who wish to impose their ways on us because our mindset is of the winners of those conquests, which in turn makes us the descendants of those who conquer, not a people who will be imposed upon.

We can't be religiously neutral with our monarchy.

1066?

They should both respect the occasion and just try to enjoy the time off instead of protesting an unwanted message directed at people who dont want to and wont listen.

The last instance of the invasions and conquests that shaped our nation, after that we went out with the mindset of the conquerorand did some invading of our own. At any rate the norman invasion was not entirely foreign, our nations were closely tied, i've always thought it more of a military coup between two claimants to the throne of England.

1066 was an invasion. You wouldn't have to completely replace the whole standing monarch and court with a bunch of French and their Establishment accompanied by building the biggest fearsome castles and stone buildings ever seen in England so far to help with the supression of the population if it weren't the case.

Essentially that establishment ruled 'till 1688. Of which that technical 'invasion' is largely played down as well.

Or maybe I'm just looking at it differently?

Like, without the tinted spectacles? ;)

I think that how it happened and what happened afterwards rather argues against it being as you describe. An army invaded, most existing landowners had their lands stolen by force and given to members of the conquering army and any resistance was met with staggering overkill as a lesson, with entire villages being destroyed and everyone in them killed because maybe someone living there might have possibly perhaps been opposed to the conqueror's rule.
