Around 1976 I was going to see my parents in Nigeria but we had to make an emergency landing in Dahome.
We were led off the plane by soldiers holding rifles to our heads and herded into an area where we were told to stay and not move or they would shoot.
After around 4 hours of standing I asked to go to the toilet which was yards away but they refused and pointed a rifle at me.
I kept asking and they kept refusing and pointing their rifles at me but I couldn't take any more so told them I was going to the toilet and they could kill me.
I'm still alive
It was then a free for all to the toilets and when all was OK we were led back to the plane with rifles pointing at us.
Every day in Nigeria you would get soldiers or police stopping you and shoving a rifle or gun in your face and you got used to it.
