I lost my satio, and got a Nexus one as a replacement.
So what are the Android must do's and must haves
It has Android 2.2.1 build FRG83D

I know this is an 'old' phone, but so far I like it a lot :)

You do not need to install any task killer apps.

Do install a profile app which control when to turn on wifi, bluetooth etc depending on the situation/time of day to save battery.

Camera aside, that is quite the upgrade = )

Theres plenty of android based threads on here, check them out.

I've googled gingerbread for it, and intomobile have a download link and instructions, is that a trust wurthy site?, don't want to bin my phone on the first day!

It's a lot easier to auto check and update from the Google server.

Type in *#*#2432546#*#* and call it.

It will check for updates and Android 2.3 Gingerbread should appear, then tap on it and it should auto install from the Google server.

Have a watch of this video, it gives you an example of what to do:

Comes back with Checkin Succeeded on Orange with my DHD but i don't get any updates :(

Yeah it's not available for the DHD yet, there is a check for updates option on the DHD anyway so you won't need to type that in, it's because he's got the Nexus One he will have to do that as there is no check for updates option on that phone.

Vodafone haven't released a 2.3 ROM for the N1 yet. For some stupid reason they have their own ROM, even though it's not branded.

I downgraded to 2.2 unbranded and then upgraded back to 2.3.3 on both my Vodafone UK Nexus Ones. Well worth doing.

Ah you're network locked, I didn't know that, that does make it more difficult, it's always best to try and get unlocked and unbranded, then you get the updates straight from Google as soon as they release them instead of having to wait for your carrier to test them and load them with there own stuff, you'll either have to wait for Vodafone to release it or do what paradigm has done.
