EDL and Muslim group apply to protest Royal Wedding.

Can't they just find a quite corner somewhere and let them "protest" to the bitter end then lock the winners up for gbh and murder.
If they hate the Royal Family, why the hell are they living in a country which has become what it is today because of what the Royal Family has done.
The vast majority of the people in the EDL and MAC are life's losers and they behave like dysfunctional children. Controversy brings them the attention they crave.

They stay in this country for one reason. It's better than the alternatives.

;)
I do live in a "white" area, Wigan is racist place but I dont take part in it and dont call people in the street just because they are a different colour, compare it to Bolton 10 miles away that has very large Asian community and from working in the areas the attitude from Asians has had an imprint on my feelings and thoughts, most of the time you cant have two different cultures living together so closely, (Jewish seem to get on ok with people in the UK, yet Islam seems to think they need to voice at every opportunity) it never works, hence why countries generally have the same culture and the conflicts its all down to culture/religion, take Ireland for example and how deadly that is over land and religion.

If Wigan is a "white area" (whatever that means), then Salisbury where I live must be the Aryan Nation.....

I don't think that was what he was saying, I thought he was saying that we are defined by these events, rather than being a last bastion of infallibility.

I read it as we are a nation shaped by those events, rather than trying to revise history per se.

The British are pretty good at influencing and integrating themselves into other cultures, that includes the Norman Invasion to some extent.

Ok wrong words I should have just quoted him again, but "which in turn makes us the descendants of those who conquer, not a people who will be imposed upon."....

We were imposed upon, and still are politically to this day (other issues I will grant you).

Haha, it was worth as shot....

:p

To an extent he is correct though, although as a Nation we were conquered by the Normans, today we are the descendants of those who conquered as much as those who were conquered. (assimilation)

And we are not generally imposed on by others, when push comes to shove we generally shove back.....harder.

While our Governments can be rather "soft" in some things, it is rarely shared by the People. Out of all the EU nations for example, we are the most fractious.

most of the guys here will probably **** themselves if they come down to west London.

West London? I thought that was generally the nicer area? Most of my London-living friends are centred around Peckham, Hackney & Brixton, more South and a bit East (though I think Hackney's actually a bit North - I was never very good at London navigation), but they seem to be generally hailed as the places where you don't want to take a corner slower than 15mph because you'll likely have your hubcaps nicked.

They'd be surprised at how great some parts are and a bit goggle-eyed at some of the other parts. But they wouldn’t **** themselves. People in these parts are quite relaxed about the mix of communities we have.

True but lets face it, thats not Britain its Londonistan

So you are implying that you will never visit such places but rather stick to your own community and not see any other cultures. So much for integration. As it is said integration works both ways and you don't have to live in a different community environment but atleast there can be some social interaction with members from other cultural background.

I have friends from many different backgrounds and it is always an enriching experience talking to people from different backgrounds.

One thing I like about London Universities is that you come across students from all over the world and it is always nice atmosphere where students have a great laugh and talk about their respective life experiences back home

'We' are people who were imposed upon several times.

And we are not generally imposed on by others, when push comes to shove we generally shove back.....harder.

Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe.

Our government's are 'us' these days, they are our representation. :)
