Is it much better than electron, ie more widely accepted etc

Just wondering as one just popped through the post and i cba to google as im stimmed to the eyeballs on pepsi, thus hovering 1" above me bed.

It's industry standard. Electron has always been rubbish, Electron is like Solo.

Visa electron is nothing like a solo and is taken by pretty much 99% of retailers online and offline without issue. The same could never be said for solo.

i once had an electron card, and you would be surprised by the amount of places that dont accept it.

Actually i wouldn't be surprised, many garages wouldn't along with quite a few chains of shops.

It wasn't that bad, but it could be a right pain if it caught you out. Anyway glad to be rid of the thing now, i think it's because i never bothered to upgrade my account with halifax.

Well this current account works fine, so i saw no need to change it, sticking me with electron was probably them trying to shunt me over.

I never had a problem with either electron or solo, both were accepted every country i went to and every shop.

I'm pretty sure Visa Debit is accepted anywhere that regular Visa is.

Yes it is, although the Electron card is also Visa, the difference is that payments with Visa Electron require that all the funds be available at the time of transfer, and as such it is usually not accepted at places that cannot check the status of your account at the time of purchase.

Basically it is a limited service visa debit card that people with iffy credit ratings or basic current accounts get.

Wrong the amount of places that don't accept visa debit is high. I got a visa debit card and places like paypal and steam don't accept it even though they take visa credit cards.

You are wrong Paypal accepts Debit cards if they have the Visa or Mastercard logo, but not the Electron or now the Maestro logo.

I have used my Visa Debit on Paypal and Steam for that matter.

As said. Completely wrong. I use my Visa debit all the time. Visa debit and visa credit are both one and the same for acceptance. Visa Electron is not. It never used to be widely used, as it was pretty much just a cashpoint card. This was when chques were commonplace and Visa was also a cheque guarantee card (Remember the manual cheque printer/copier machines!)

No. You are wrong or your card is broken. I used my Visa Debit card on PayPal just yesterday. And on steam about 4 days ago. No problems at all.

Paypal does not have dedicated store for gibraltar,the same with steam. Even with a visa debit card from a british bank and a serling account. I was wrong in saying that you were wrong to begin with as i forgot that the uk stores have more payement options

. But i still can't not use my visa debit card in the same fashion as a visa credit card. So its a draw

Mine works everywhere I've used it (including paypal) when I use a website that doesnt have the visa debit logo/button I just click visa and it works fine =/.
