just fried a brand new corsair 850w :(

I think you need to build a pc with not as an expensive spec to maybe get the hang of things?

Just saying becuase you don't seem to know your complete way around a computer that well and you'd rather destroy cheap components instead of expensive, right?

negative sir, im taking it to a shop that builds and repairs computers, im no longer in the building equation, thank f"!k

this is not meant to be a troll statement, but dude going by what i'm seeing in your previous threads you need to step away from pc building, you just aint having any luck at all...I'm genuinely starting to fear for you!!

Lol, ive had to say that to a few folk also.

Hi there,

Your Corsair comes with a 7 year warranty, I suggest you contact the reseller you bought it from, then corsair directly if you have no luck from the retailer.

Even if you buy a new PSU in the mean time then you can still sell on the replacement PSU and recover most of the money you spent on the new PSU.

Looking at your setup - I would suggest this PSU. However, if you want to run dual GTX 580s in the future, then another HX 850W is a good shout, as is the newer, more efficient Seasonic built Corsair AX 850W.

Please for the love of easter bunnies don't buy a powercool PSU, stick with solid brands that make quality supplies like corsair, antec, enermax and seasonic.

Dont STOP building PC's that just takes the fun out of life (by a little, developing erectile dysfunction that a big), why go to a shop spend £££'s and be hook up and then ready to go where's the fun in that!? just learn by experience and mistakes read before you do something save the doe of mistakes, keep them build going and upgrade as ness down the long road that is head of technology \m/

Or..here http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/anger-management/Pages/Introduction.aspx

But honestly, to get to that stage (power up stage), and to be so annoyed. I always take a minute (or a cup of tea :D) after building a PC (especially if it's one that has annoyed me in some way), before powering it up. Considering if you power it up and it doesn't work, it may go out the window. ;)

The PSU that you seem to have killed may be warrantyable, but that really isn't honest anyway. Buy a new one and learn your lesson. :P

If you want your system up and running ASAP buy a Be Quiet Pure Power 530, then RMA your Corsair unit. Turn around for that should be a couple weeks at most, and then either keep the Be Quiet for a backup, or sell it on after.

And as people have said, be careful when putting things together, work slowly, and look at everything you're doing so you don't make a boo boo and wipe something costly out.

Silly thread by a silly person.
Doesn't matter what PSU you buy if you are gonna start hitting it about.
Foolish. Learn from your experiences and don't blame the products when you can't control your temper and lacking of PC building abilities.
Just be done with it and buy a none brand PSU. Maybe one day you will learn. (or not)

6,000+ posts and you haven't seen a fully modular PSU? Maybe less posting and more reading?

Having had two modular psu's where the cpu power cables were attached I simply presumed it was the norm. I can't say I've ever felt compelled to actually look at pictures of psu's close enough to establish whether or not the modular ones have the cpu power cables attached as you will not see that on shop pictures or even in most reviews and instead would have to google it most likely.

Thus I think you should get off your high horse ;).

I'd like to think that my 5 year stay at ocuk has probably seen that I know a fair amount of actually useful information. Not whether all advertised modular psu's are 100% modular ;).

absolutely, fully modular psu's arent exactly common place. only people who've found them by accident, or those who are complete and utter nerd-holes really know about them.

err, i found them by accident, in case anybody is wondering.... :o
