Vacuums - Dyson, or Miele?

We're in the market for a new Vac. Have had Dyson's for the past 10 years or so, and was wondering if anyone had any experience of Miele's, as all the reviews seem to rate them quote highly.

Responses and thoughts appreciated.
 
We've got a Dyson but I told my ma to get a Henry. She never listens to me. But saying that our dyson has been faultless except for somebody losing one of the nozels - the long thin one, the best one.
 
Both overpriced and both are rather heavy. I'd rather stick with a more normal brand which is easier to use. Our Philips one is now around 15 years old! Cost us £50! Does use bags though :(

That's interesting. Even the local £10 wash & hoover your car use the Henry. Never really twigged that they must use them as they are so reliable. You learn something new everyday.
 
Upright Dysons are a pain in the arse. Henrys are bomb proof, and Miele are better but more fragile.

Buy a Miele TBH unless you plan on flinging it down the stairs, in which case buy a Henry. I cleaned quite a lot when I was in college years back, and Mieles were the best I got to use.
 
Miele Cat and Dog Turbo - costs not a lot and so far has been bullet proof. Yes you need bags which is a downside but the quality of cleaning has beaten every other hoover we have used - that includes both Dyson and Henrys.
 
I asked this question last year, it was between the Miele Cat & Dog and the Dyson DC32 Animal. Both could be had for £200 at the time and I ended up going with the Dyson purely because parts were easier to come by and I didn't need bags. One year on and it does the job great, keeps the cat hair off the carpet - it's easily as good as my mothers Miele Cat & Dog, sits on the stairs fine (which the Miele can't do) and it's a whole lot quieter than the Miele :)
