Getting Ready For A Mega LAN Night

How do you folks set up a LAN party? Just curious.. I don't have any friends who are into PC gaming and wouldn't have the room in my flat..

Big router??

David
Basically we done this up in the schools IT office which has networking ports dotted around the walls, so when it came to not having enough machines already there, some of us bought out own and plugged them in. If your planning on doing one yourself at home, I recommend using just a switch with enough ports on for all computers (This applies if you do not need the internet) In the case of you needing the internet (I don't see why with a LAN party) but then you would need a router.

Hope this helps,

Dok

I've never been to a LAN event but they looks sick. Is it just you and your mates that set these up? Because nearly all of mine have consoles and I live in Derby which is a **** hole and i'm assuming there will be no LAN events anywhere near me.

:(

One in Bury/Manchester Friday 29th April till sunday 1st

phoenixlans

May be about 20 people there, small friendly event..

Also, that website is AWFUL :p

lol agree on that it's as old as my ZX spectrum :)

It's had a few problems lately, couple of years ago they were doing regular 40+ people, then it started to die off like a lot of other small LAN meets.

A new guy has took over and is trying to get it going again so the site and forum are a bit like an abandoned building at the minute, flaky paint and rubble all over the place :)

Still a good laugh when your actualy there though.

pfft, small time :P

This one is from a few years ago but is the general size of our lan pizza run:

Heh no, we go get it, have to warn dominos that we're coming so they can get more ingredients and staff :D
Probably the best idea, but if you dident mention that you were going to order, they still have to do the order, suppose they must have told you second time to let them know next time

I once had a mass-gaming session.

I think I went through 2x2ltr bottles of Dr. Pepper, 2xChicken Madras and Rice..

That seemed a lot, but that is just....

WOW

Got a Lan too go to myself on the 29th april In Bury, just out side Manchester Friday night till sunday lunch in a local community center, Lots of gaming and as little sleep as you can get away with.

Been going to Lans since 1999, it's proper good laugh, loads of banter, abuse across the room, nice friendly competitive tournys and of course top food like Dominoes or Subways as the OP nicely pointed out :)

Added bonus with this location there's a good pub 50 meters down the road for when the RSI kicks in and you need to rest your mouse hand

You got any info? I'm only up the road :)

Need to create a OcUK LAN party

I think one was in the pipeline, but fell apart when trying to decide a venue.
The Scotts didn't want to come down south, and the southerners thought anything past Birmingham was too far north.

Would be very cool though
