Dented ipad, can i claim insurance?

A few days ago my ipad fell out of its case

and landed right on the street floor. Their is a rise in the top right corner of the class and lots of small marks around the corners. Where do i stand if i wish to get it fixed/replaced on home insurance? i have AA out of house content cover for gadgets etc..

Call your insurance, they will tell you yes or no.

I have insurance which covers out of house damage.

Surely if you've got cover for you ipad then you sorted. As someone else has said say it fell whilst you was on the patio and has been damaged if your worried about them not covering you on the street. May not be the most honest way but you pay your insurance for a reason!!

Youve already said it covers gadgets and out the house damage so youve pretty much answered your own question????

But will i have to pay an excess and will it effect my premium?

Your policy booklet will explain your excess - a claim will almost certainly result in an increase in premium.

As I said in my first post check the T&C to see what it says.

You will probably have to pay £50 excess and your premium is likely to go up but thats all part of claiming unfortunately!!

It all depends how much the ipad is worth to you. If its an ipad 1 16gb then I probably wouldn't myself if its a something a little higher end thats still going to be worth a few quid then you might as well use your insurance and make a claim as I'm guessing its the reason you pay each month for your insurance??

Its a first gen 16gb, so prob not claiming then

either way theres no sign of dmg with the case on and it works fine, its just the casing.

Auction it off and get a new one. Youll have to add the extra obviously but when you take into account your excess and the rise in your insurance premium then it maybe worth it

Not bad advice. I sold a chipped iPod years ago for £50 below it's 2nd hand cost.

You do know that many insurance companies now use lie detection software hence the reason they ask that you phone them to make a claim right?
