Vacuums - Dyson, or Miele?

we have 2 dyson's.

cylinder and a upright.

the cylinder is over 10 years old and is still very powerful.

the upright is 7 years old and again is very powerful.

i will always buy dyson now as they are very very good.

We're in the market for a new Vac. Have had Dyson's for the past 10 years or so, and was wondering if anyone had any experience of Miele's, as all the reviews seem to rate them quote highly.

Responses and thoughts appreciated.

Had Dyson for 5 years now. Still going strong, i have noticed there price hasn't really come down over the years, in fact it goes up, i bought mine at £180, i see them now at £239 now.

It's a good investment though.

We bought our dyson when the 8 cyclone thing came out, so quite a while ago (8 years?) and it's never missed a beat. I clean the filters once every six month and they don't even need it that regular in my experience. Been a great buy.

I found I had to clean the filters every week or it lost a lot of suction. But other than that it was a good vaccum until it broke.

replaced all the carpets with laminate floor, apart from one bedroom and the landing and stairs so going to replace with a smaller one. Might even look into the smaller Dysons.

every henry I have used has been pants - i really cant understand the hype... dyson on the other hand always seem to do the job...

I've had Dyson's for about 11 years now. Just bought the second. The first still works, and is used to clean the cars.

No need to say anything beyond that.

Same here

I wouldn't say crap though, just different. They aren't anywhere near as powerful but work great on building sites because they're bulletproof :D

Ive got a George in my house, Henrys brother who likes to wash carpets aswell as hoover, god damn its powerful beats our dc25 animal hands down on dog and cat hair.

Looking at a vacuum for when I move house next weekend, Vax U90-MA-R seems to be rated higher than Dyson from what I've read, anyone used/heard anything about the recent Vax models?

As a fairly large family we've always had issues with hoovers (vaccums). We've gone through around 14 in 10 years. But 2 years ago we bought a Henry, cant fault it!

Works superbly, highly recommend it to anyone!
