How often do people die on flights?

Can't they just stow the body in an overhead locker? Once rigor mortis sets in they'll just handle like a piece of luggage, all squashed into the foetal position.

I was on a BA flight the other week and someone unfortunately died during the flight, has this ever happened to anyone else?

Or does anyone have any stats on how often this happens?

Was flying back from the US and someone onboard had a heart attack, we had to turn back and land in Newfoundland, took 13 hours to get home in the end.

If someone dies, an emergency landing at the nearest possible Airport will take place. They can normally get the plane down within 20 minutes.

My friend fainted on my last flight. It was weird. He looked like he was haveing some sort of fit and actually dieing. And the staff were just looking to me as if I could do something about it. I (given I had no idea what was happening) was just like, "Haven't you had training for this sort of thing?".

They just gave me blank looks.

Air NZ

Defib, cannula, fluids, IV drugs, laryngoscope, ET tubes, bag and mask.

No sats probe though, probably because sats are lower on a plane so might be misleading.

Couldn't hear a damn thing because of the cabin noise, made it impossible to get a BP with the manual sphyg.

Before the pilot and first officer even get on the aircraft this is evaluated.... The chances of a passenger needing 'urgent medical attention' as it's called is well planned for on a long haul flight. People with heart problems suffer the most :( Of course if your over the Atlantic then you depend on the flight crew providing first aid until your next airfield.

Do they have a chest drain kit? Id imagine not. I remember that story about the Orthopod who made one for someone using a catheter and a pop bottle on a plane, I do hope im never in that position.
