Might be going to look at an E46

Just feel like a bit of a **** to pull out and also I'm intrigued about the car now that I've been thinking about it and trying to work it out lol. Sad I know.

Yeah I've driven it before and it's great fun, Hatfield tunnel with the top down and a comfortable speed was great! Only think is they're lacking in power but the sheer awesomeness of the deal would mean I could easily get more power out of it at a later date. I think it makes sense, it'll be more reliable as there is less to go wrong, less comfort though.

On the other hand it's a bit of a waste of time to just go and see it without 100% backing that I will buy it if it is OK.

Get the mx5, itll be much more fun than the bmw, the 323i is boring, and will probably go wrong on you. This time of year its a no brainer :)

Hes right, duff the 323 and get the MX5, especially as you know the Mazda.

**** it I've just txt him, feel a bit bad but hey that's part and parcel of selling a car...

Problem is Jez I'll be doing a 50-mile round trip in it for about a year but meh, it'll do, I'm getting it for next to nothing so I have a feeling I might turn it into a track focused beast. :D

I do feel like a bit of a ****. :( Having never driven a BMW I wanted to give it a go too and see what it is all about and just how much mileage it has.

The number of times ive nearly smashed my iphone due to let down texts like that :p

Did the right thing though, mx5 will be lovely over summer.

Edit: if you want to drive a bmw to see what they are like then go by your nearest dealer and drive a nice shiny new one :)

Hey, he's lucky you let him know! Don't feel too bad about it, I'd certainly prefer an MX5 over a 323i right now in this weather.

True, I just txt him again to confirm it as he didn't reply.

Get some sleep and buy your MX5 tomorrow, dont worry about him :)

I'll have to wait, but I can still drive the Mx-5 anyway as I have DOC. :D Will have to wait until the 5 is replaced until I get it though which is no big deal.

Theres a million of them, some better some worse, dont lose another second over that car.

I dont mind paying 4 figures to keep a car running but its easier to justify on a more expensive car, just seems like a waste on a cheap one.

Square that circle with my example for me....

'97 worth realistically £800 tops (given the miles) yet to replace it for a car of similar quality and overall condition, would cost me £2 - £3k ish easily.

To my mind therefore, its worth spending a few quid on an old car that's not worth too much, as long as its in good condition & most crucially, want to hang onto it.

On that point, I've been offered £1500 for my e39 (an increase from £1k) by a colleague from work, part of me is tempted given it cost me less than £600......
