After a fair few fairly good years I am suffering really badly this year.

It started for a few days when I went to Milan a few weeks back, then cleared up when I got back to the UK so I put it down to something different over there.

Yesterday was terrible, I know the weather is bad at the moment so hopefully its a short term thing. Off to Tesco soon to stock up with Antihistamine and may try one of those wax thingies thats supposed to help intercept the pollen a bit.

Thought I would start a thread we have had numerous threads over years so if we can try to keep stuff in one place it can hopefully become a resource for people to use.
 
Was sneezing a bit yesterday, been getting hayfever quite badly the last few years (didn't used to get it at all, started in my early 20's). Don't think it's started in earnest for me yet though.
 
I usually go to the Docs in April and get enough Lotaradine to last me all summer. One a day and hay fever doesn't bother me at all.
 
My hayfever got worse and worse (from nothing) over the space of a few years and has since subsided again over the last few years to almost nothing!!??
 
Sometimes I can go days without a sneeze and then all of a sudden it will come onto me, itchy eyes runny nose ans sneezing.

Last year it didn't really affect be but I think this year it will. :(
 
Mines just starting to show through this last week, itchy eyes, sneezing. So went to the docs to get my usual cocktail of fenofexadine and beclometasone.

Thats what I used to get but after a few years it seemed to have less and less effect each season.
 
I'm doing OK so far this year, I've managed to start exercising without suffering from asthma either.

So far I am on to a winner!
Back to Kung Fu training this week!
 
ive had loads of different tablets over the years, im now on Fexofenadine Hydrocholoride and Montelukast and its still not touching it, yay. i hate this weather.

Would people recommend going to the doctor? I mean it would make sense if I was in Wales or Scotland as it would be free, but will they give you stuff that isn't available over the counter?
 
I get it really bad, as well. :( I got the first signs of it today, not looking forward to where it's headed.

It doesn't help that I live on a farm, either. :o

Yes, I got a nasal steroid spray (Avamys) which completely got rid off all symptoms - the only problem is that it can only be used for 12 weeks at a time.
 
I've tried every different pill, spray and eye drop they have available, nothing works. The latest pill I'm on helps a little, but my eyes are still streaming by the end of the day.

You get the same stuff you can get in Boots, but it's often cheaper as you get it monthly blister packs for the same price Boots do their 7 day ones. Unless of course they're doing a three for two.

I have an NHS prescription pre-payment card as I have to order a fair few medicines a month, so basically I get the hayfever medicine for 'free'.

No, they will charge you whatever the rate rape fee is for prescriptions and give you exactly the same stuff you get from the chemist.
