2011 Hayfever

I used to suffer pretty bad but recently in the past several years it hasn't been too bad.

Its normally a runny nose that gets me now, my eyes are fine! Usually come cheapo tablets sort the nose out.

i usually just have 1 of both the green and the blue asda tablets. one is loratidine and the other is the cetrazine. Can never remember which one works best.

Actually its the drugs companies really.

Whlist drug is under patent and cant be copied expect to pay loads, once its out expect cheap copies to be available.

You will always get brand names charging more as some people will assume they get better.

And the retailers, How much is boots generic "hayfever remedy" tablet?

£8.06 for 30.

Mine hasn't kicked in yet, its usually starts at the beginning of June so should be anytime now. Thankfully my hayfever only lasts a month so I'm normally fine by July.

Oh, Hadn't see them, but then I dont go to Boots really. Yes agreed in that case thats taking the ****.

Have no idea on most supermarkets but Tesco often have bogoff or half price in hayfever stuff.

E.g Today they have Zirtek for half price, £1.50 for 7 so thats even cheaper than boots generic.

Still not competative with online bulk sellers though I agree.

Alternative online retailer

Zirtek and Clarityn £0.97 for 30 if you buy 3 boxes.

Go to the doctors and they dont "just give you the same as over the counter" usually its a super strength version of over the counter like bicetirizine dihydrochloride etc. My doctor is great as I've had havfever as long as I can remember and have been getting prescriptions since GCSEs so they know what I've previously been on and what has and has not worked so they can suggest combos of various drugs.

Mine can get pretty bad but I do bring it upon myself by going cycling, walking, other outdoor things amongst the trees and flowers.
Why do I have hayfever? Why can't some WoW player who never sees daylight have it instead :(

Having suffered from it for nearly 25 years, I can tell you from experience with about 6 different Doctors, they dont give you super strength anything in regards to Hayfever and will either tell you to go to the chemist or give you a couple of boxes of the same stuff at £7 what ever per Item.

I dont even go to the Doctors for my asthma any more, I can buy the same inhalers for a quid online.

Indeed. If there is any magical high strength pill they're hiding, they're not giving it to me :(

It probably depends on your doctor. NHS is pretty hit and miss most of the time. Anyway as a student I am taking full advantage of my free prescriptions :p

I do know that no over the counter drugs have worked for me for years (Sometimes I try them if I run out of prescription) especially not loratadine which never worked.

You see, I've spoken to so many doctors over the years and they all tell me the same thing: there are no miracle cures, just a few different pills with different active ingredients.

Yes there are no miracle cures but over time your body will stop absorbing the ingredients so you end up chasing round in circles mixing and matching hoping that one combo will work for a few seasons at least.

You can't cure hayfever only reduce the effects.

Wish there was a cure :(

Just get the injection! A lot off doctors don't like giving it as it has some rumored increased risks is getting a rare bone condition that generally only old women that are mal nutritioned get, but my GP is fine with it saying as an athletic young male with healthy eating habits, I'm about as low a risk as possible from it.

It is called TRIVARIS and is injected in your ass cheek once at the start of the hay fever season, and for me COMPLETELY removes all hay fever symptoms. Ceterizine hydrochloride and fexofenedine left me still in a state that I couldn't see for days at a time from swollen eyes so it's a miracle cure for me.

The side affects listed are also mentioned to be for people using it daily....one 40mg shot PER YEAR is very unlikely to give any discernable side effects that get even close to how how dehabilitating hay fever gets.

I've been using it for two years with no side effects
