I dont watch tv so i never see the news and i also dont read newspapers. The only time i watch tv is when im at work and its breaktime. And its always top gear or something else on dave channel.
Anyway i sit with people who enjoy talking about tv programmes and also the news. Im sat there just nodding, i just have no interest in whats happening around the world. It was about a week or 2 that i heard the trouble in japan.
Is anyone else like this and dont watch the news or read about it, cause they dont care.

I find that most of the news stories are made-up or exagerrated, so I've stopped watching the news entirely. I rarely read a newspaper for the same reasons. I recently read the Daily Express while visiting my folks and couldn't believe just how much rubbish it contained.

No. I'm boring and watch the news, read newspapers and take an interest in what goes on in the world.

How can you say that most of the news is That's just not true regarding something like BBC news :S

Made-up as in news story that really aren't news like Anne Robinson quitting the Weakest Link or someone getting their dog back after it fell down a cliff in Devon.

Didn't you see the exagerrated BBC coverage of the nuclear hazards brought about by the recent Japanese tsunami? Or the way they tried to manufacture widespread panic over avian 'flu, swine 'flu and so on.

As long as you have the ability to critically analyse what you read in the news (and choose more reputable publications) I don't see the problem.

In fact, I find it highly disturbing that people have zero interest in the world around them and wonder whether they are fit to vote in elections

Vote in elections is something ive never done and never will.

I don't watch news often, local news is just not interesting at all and national news is depressing more often than not. Any vaguely important news stories i'll get told about, then find a decent comment is free article on later.

I really don't understand how people could not follow any sort of news ... I just don't understand the mentality of not wanting to know what is going on in the country or the rest of the world. It's like the US rednecks who don't really know anything of the world more than 20miles away from where they were born ...

I've always watched the news most days, even when I was a student, just as I find it interesting to see what is going on ...

I check the news on a regular basis.

Can't understand how people don't find out things that happen ... You say it took 2 weeks to realise anything was happening in Japan..

I reckon it would take me less than a day to find out something without watching any news.

Unless I went into the backside of nowhere, someone would say something eventually (in less than 2weeks though)

You will find I am the most perfect person in the world because:

1) I don't know what a TV is
2) I don't know what a newspaper is
3) I don't own any music or listen to it because I make it all up in my head
4) Somebody told me about compootus and hinteenett but I haven't got a clue
5) I don't know what news is

and so on .....
