Just wondering if there is a sandybridge board that doesnt use the marvell controller for 6gbs sata....ive sort of looked but most dont say what controller they are thanks .

Sandybridge boards will have 6Gb/s SATA connectors from the Intel chipset.

The MSI P67A-GD65, for example, has 4 SATA 3Gb/s and 2 SATA 6Gb/s connectors from the Intel chipset plus an extra 2 SATA 6 Gb/s connectors from Marvell.

Ahhh just done a comparison check at asus i forgot about that it tells you there what the chipsets are and that ....talking about msi though are they making a comeback as have not been much from them in recent years....and will the intel 6gbs controller give me better performance than the marvell one i have now on the i7 x58 board .

The Intel SATA III connections are significantly better than the marvell ones. The marvell ones are only just faster than the intel SATA II connectors.

Same as the above really. I've only recently starting using a GD65 after having some cracking MSI GPUs, and loving it. So easy to use, and no problems at all so far. *Touch wood* :)
