Hi chaps, quick question what do you think the average price to charge a client who want's a custom Wordpress theme with maybe 5 different pages?

Edit: this would also include the installation of the cms and maybe some light help advice over the phone after.

It depends what you're doing, will you be designing from scratch? Cutting up a design they already have? Modifying an existing template? Do they want design options? How long do you think it'll take? How much do you want to earn hourly? Will any support be included or chargeable?...

Template from scratch. They have there own content and logos but would like to add there own content after also which I would help direct them in doing. Can't really see it taking longer than 20 hours. Hourly rate, I was going to charge for the whole project.

What do you think, Mickey? What would you suggest?

Right then... In general you shouldn't go far wrong with this formula:

Expected hours * Hourly rate * 1.5

So, assuming an average rate of £30/hour, £900 then. Adjust it for your desired hourly rate.

Thanks very much for the formula, Mickey :)

So then it would be about £10/hour for the price I stated. Sounds good to me so I think with more confidence and experience under my belt I will slide this up a notch or two.

When talking to clients do you give an estimate of how many hours it will take, I know it sounds vague from the many different types of project etc , but any more info would be most welcome :)
